RESCUE INK STOP PUPPY MILLS BAN LEG HOLD TRAPS Surely you're not saying we have the resources to save the poor from their lot. I mean, she is taken out every day, come rain or shine, to this dog lot in the back yard. She has no dog house, just plank board to keep her off the ground and a large piece of ply board to keep the rain off her. We walk our dogs every day the weather permits, and when we walked our dogs on a misty cold day....there she was, curled up and sitting out there alone. I lost it! No cars in the driveway, but I promptly wrote a note to say how I felt about this dog, and she is a good dog, being...

My sister had to take some baby squirrels to a rehab woman and was wondering how much she should donate. The woman didn't ask for any money, but my sister feels she give her something.“Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.” - Benjamin Franklin

I really don;t know what to do about this. My dog is rather large and will not move when he's lying around the house when I want to walk where he is. This is getting dangerous for me because I'm not so young anymore and the dog is always in the main part of where I want to walk - top of stairway, middle of hall, etc. I always have to step over him because he doesn't move, no matter what I do or say to him, and now it has become a hazard to me. I can not any longer step over him or...

Thought this was going to be a reminder to start prevention....didn't ya?? WELL, DO THAT TOO but I have a question..... heheh I'd like some opinions on what is the best prevention for heartworms and fleas for my 2 German Shepherds. They are negative for both. Last year I used Frontline for fleas--even though we haven't had any for 7 or 8 years, and Heartgard for heartworm prevention. My dogs are over 100lbs each. What's the safest, most economical and reliable method to use?...

This is a question that's too difficult for me to ask out loud without falling apart so I'm not quite ready to ask a vet yet. Is there some kind of strong tranquilizer I can give to my dog that will make her so "out of it" that she won't be afraid when it's time for euthanasia? She's 18 years old, and throughout her whole life she's been terrified of the vet's office. The instant the door opens and she catches scent of "the place where all the animal smells are" she goes into total panic. I...

Hi, this is my first time posting to this board, although I do visit and have gained lots of great ideas and information here. This is a bit of lengthy post and I apologize. So here is why I am so angry and looking for a place to vent...a few months ago I found a precious little puppy who had been dumped on the side of a busy two lane highway. I checked with nearby neighbors to be sure he did not belong to them and finding that he did not, brought him home with me. I already have 5 rescue...

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar wants to eliminate vital federal protections for wolves in Greater Yellowstone and the rest of the Northern Rockies -- a move that could lead to the deaths of nearly 1,000 wolves. Call the US Fish and Wildlife Service at 1-800-344-9453, select option “3” (for endangered species) and hit “0” to speak with the operator. Once you are connected, just deliver this simple message: "I am calling to express my extreme disappointment in Interior Secretary Salazar’s...

I thought this was a great story: Link Homecoming for kitty who was accidentally donated along with furniture SPOKANE, Washington - The mysterious mewing in Vickie Mendenhall's home started about the time she bought a used couch for $27. After days of searching for the source of the noise, she found a very hungry calico cat living in her sofa. The Spokesman-Review reported that her boyfriend, Chris Lund, was watching TV on Tuesday night and felt something move inside the couch....

I promised myself long ago that I'd always stop my car for a stray dog, no matter when or where. So today, driving home, I saw a fat dog wandering in the street one block away from me. I drove near him and he began to trudge quickly down the sidewalk towards a busy street. I got back in my car, and went farther down the road, to herd him in the opposite direction, figuring that if I can't coax him into my car, at least he'll run in a safe direction. It was a fat, probably older dog, body...

Hello, My daughter had her dog neutered last year when she was a puppy. About 6 months ago she was bleeding. My daughter couldn't get her into the vet that day so took her to see someone else. They diagnosed a bladded infection and put her on antibiotics. A few days ago she was bleeding again so she got her into her regular vet who did the spay. She was shocked that the dog seemed to be in heat. Swollen private and breasts along with the bleeding. They did hormone testing and it turns...
