In honor of Veterans' Day, here's a WWI Soldier Bear:These tiny guys were made to fit into a soldier's pocket, so their eyes are set on top of their heads so they can peer out. Many of these soldiers were just boys. He is with his Princess Mary Tin, which was a Christmas 1914 gift from Princess Mary to her soldiers. Inside there would have been a Christmas card from her, tobacco, chocolate and a pencil. His whistle is an Air Raid Whistle, which was used in the trenches. If you've seen the movie...

Mustbesick, I mentioned in another thread that I have a rare Miller Antiseptic Bear, and I thought you might like to see him, but I didn't want to threadjack Teddybear's post. So I'm gonna put him here so you (and anyone else who might want to know what they look like) can see him. These guys were only made for a very short time, so if you see one, it's circa 1907. Early American, of course. Mine isn't in really good shape, but he's all there. Notice how wide the top of his head is, going down...

Thought I would post pics of some quilts I have made using bear fabric. I make them entirely by hand, with no machine-work at all. First I sew the topper, then assemble the quilt with the batting, and then I quilt it by hand. I am just a hobbyiest, so I don't hide my knots like a professional, but the people where I work seem to like them anyway. I'll put the pictures in the next post.*************************************************

Hello. I was wondering if any one would happen to know the name of this bear and what year he was introduced / retired. He is jointed and has cream colored fabric that looks like cotton stuffing. Thank you for any information. Shanna. Link

I have a Burberry Bear that is still in its original bag. I think it is at least 10 years old, maybe more. It has a tag with an item number. Is there any way to research the year it was made, or any other information, by using the item number? The bear is plaid --- I think it is the Burberry "Nova Check" pattern. There is a Macy's sticker on the bottom of the plastic bag. Thanks for any help.

I have 1st Edition's of Bearista (green Apron) Bear and Bearona (Maroon Apron) bear. What are they going for these days? They were given to my son as a gift back when he was 1 year old, in 1998. I know they are highly collectible but it has been a while since I have seen one listed on here. I did a completed item search and did not find any. Can anyone help me determine a starting price or Reserve amount? They are both in great condition, can't remember if they still have the hang tags or not...

Sorry I haven't posted for such a long time!! I've taken on some extra jobs to recover from my financial woes. Sold my Strunz bear and my black one (to a very good home, I might add). Had a gigantic garage sale. Then, went on vacation with my folks to Fairhope, Alabama (where we used to live) and to Savannah, Georgia. Had a great time, but didn't find one single bear! So, I had to make up for that by buying a couple, since I'm back on my feet. Thought I'd share! This one arrived...

I started on my second mohair head tonight, he just needs some touching up on the muzzle, too many stray hairs got left behind. As for his nose..sigh..i got the shape down but the thread still bunches up on me, its driving me nuts. Maybe im not pulling tight enough? I know he looks odd without a body lol

Since im getting some experience at doing noses i thought id try fixing that old bears nose and mouth that i messed up awhile back. I tore it all out and did a small horizontal nose in a dark brown embroidery and took your advice Frodo and didnt give him a mouth. I also removed the old rag in his belly (no jewels in there lol) and i lightly stitched him back up. He has a long restitch on his belly allready from the previous owner, i left it since its holding well. Does he look better now?...

Hi Everybody ~ I lurk here often but post only seldom (when I actually KNOW something or my hair is standing on end ) Hope you don't mind, but I just GOTTA share pix of my recent adoption ~ He is a circa late 'teens Steiff Teddy in that elusive deep, dark chocolate brown color. He needs a cleaning and a fluff (sending him to my fantabulous teddy reestorer for that) This delicious fellow is 16" tall, all original, glass eyes, and a FAB loud working growler! I've had other...
