Okay, so mohair comes from angora goats.... right? I have lots of bears, old to new, and think I know the look and feel of it and the obvious difference between mohair and synthetics. But, I look at newer bears that have a fabric content hangtag, and they do not say 100% mohair. I just looked at one of my newer Steiff bears from the 90's and the hangtag said - Covering - 65% wool 35% cotton and then also at the bottom of the same tag - Genuine Mohair. So is it? Now it looks like the old...

I received this bear from my great aunt, whom I am told had it as a child. I am not very familiar with English teddy bears, and so wondered if anyone her could help me pinpoint when it might be from. Obviously from the label, it is English, but I was hoping I could find out the year it might have been made. It is definitely mohair and in great shape. It is not stuffed with excelsior if that information helps. The eyes are glass and the nose is stitched in a twill thread. Thanks to any...

I wasnt sure what to do with the last of my Faux fur, so i tried a reverse inside out bear. Her head is polyfil and her body and limbs i stuffed loosely with Excelsior. I didnt use joints, but instead i tried just threading her limbs and head to her body, it makes her feel all wobbly and frail and i finally got a good nose lol. Granted its not perfect, but for me its good I named her Doe because she reminds me of a little Deer

Hi. About a month ago I was in a local thrift shop and bought seven plush animals. I could easily identify six out of the seven as they all had at the very least ear buttons and are from the early 1980's. This fellow was too cute to leave behind and I haven't been able to find anything on him. He does have a hole in his ear. Also, is he a Saint Bernard. Many thanks, Nancy P.S. This is one of the cuties that came home with me.

I thought id try to make my own teddy bear. I picked up an old style pattern, it called for Mohair but since this was my first bear i decided to go with faux fur, glad i did because this was no easy task for someone like me with no sewing skills I ran into some trouble along the way, for starters i'm really bad at that nose stitching, so hes left with a somewhat sloppy nose I need alot of practice in that department so maybe one day i'll get the nose down pat. My next dilemma was the...

I have a plush animal from Tupperware that still is in original palstic pkg and still has the original hang tag on its ear. Ive seen one here on ebay that is used/played with and has one set of the wiskers gone. So how do I compare mine to that for pricing? Ive already check completeds and cant find any there. I also checked google and ask dot com to research this; but no luck there either.

I happened upon a 1950's Cecil The Sea Serpent by Mattel that is extremely dusty. I tried vacuuming but that didn't do it. I also tried wiping it with a damp rag.....so so results but the nap doesn't look like it did. Before I go farther and mess things up does anyone have advice as to how to clean Cecil? Thanks so much in advance. My little brother had one back in the 60's but my mother sold it in a carport sale. He has never really gotten over that one . I found one at the GW...

I would love to hear what you think of my newest bear, who I think is quite an intruiging chap!...and hopefully, given the description someone may help me put a name to him!...as usual, he is one of the many who have suffered of the years of either being 'very well loved' or terribly neglected and uncared for...the like of whom I especially enjoy adopting. I have just bought him from ebay in the uk yesterday evening...I live in London... he was a little more expensive than I would generally...

I got a vintage stuffed dog with a Chiltern label at an auction in a box lot. It looks like it could be a Westie. It was a little dirty but in pretty good shape. I decided not to try to clean it but did use a hose vacuum attachment ( with my fingers between it and the dog ) to remove some of the black dirt spots. When I was done I noticed a couple I had missed and tried to get them with my fingers----But they moved. So some type of insect. I've read of freezing the item but have also read of...
