This is a two-part thread- 1. If anyone here (or lurking) has sons/daughters/grandchildren/nieces/nephews/spouse in the military and would like to include them in the military Secret Santa gift list, please send me an email with their name and address. If possible, a few hints about what they need or like or dislike would be helpful. 2. If anyone here (or lurking) would like to be a giver of gifts, send me an email. It was suggested that this can be done a couple of ways... a...

Link A car crash victim has spoken of the horror he endured for 23 years after he was misdiagnosed as being in a coma when he was conscious the whole time. Rom Houben, trapped in his paralysed body after a car crash, described his real-life nightmare as he screamed to doctors that he could hear them - but could make no sound. 'I screamed, but there was nothing to hear,' said Mr Houben, now 46, who doctors thought was in a persistent vegatative state. 'I dreamed myself away,' he added,...

( And I mean that in the nicest possible way)_.. Down here on the farm the weather gets messy Laying around with nothin' to do When you went away, you took my cow Bessie I miss her darling, more than I miss you You took off your leg, your wig and your eye glass And you should've seen the look on my face I wanted to kiss, I wanted to hug you But you were scattered all over the place Chorus: Where, where, are you tonight? Why did you leave me here all alone? I searched the...

. 11 Ways Geeks Measure the World Megafonzies (coolness) We don’t know if Professor Hubert Farnsworth, inventor of the Finglonger, coined the term ‘Megafonzie’. We can assume that one Fonzie is the amount of coolness generated by Arthur Fonzarelli but his coolometer tells us that two kids acquiring a lot of swag by dishonest means rates 40 megafonzies. Maybe I’m a goodie-two-shoes, but that seems discordant to me. Millihelens (beauty) One millihelen is enough beauty to launch...

Not books hence the OT. I have 2 identical old padlocks from the 1800's. Would you list together or separately? If separately, the same time or list one after the other closes which is what I'm thinking of doing. I guess you could apply to books as well.

This is outrageous. Get ready for obammycare... U.S. Panel Recommends Delaying Regular Mammograms Until Age 50 By Alice Park Tuesday, Nov. 17, 2009 A U.S. government group recommends that women delay getting regular mammograms until age 50, instead of 40, the age at which the American Cancer Society (ACS) has long advised women to begin screening for breast cancer. The government group issued its new guidelines Monday, citing evidence that the benefits of regular screening do not...

I have a velveteen soft cover booklet called What Is Christmas printed in 1961 with illustrations by Nell Stolp Smock. I can find other books illustrated by her and I found another of these red velvet covered books with The Night Before Christmas which I also have, but I can't find this book anywhere to get a value. Probably not big $$, but I can't list without some info. Hope you have an idea where I can look. Thanks.

Have a family-owned book I want to list and have several questions about it. It's the red slip-cased Lord of the Rings ISBN-0-395-19395-8. My main question is that the copyright date is 1966 - or so I thought - until when researching it I found the following at an online seller's site: Publisher: Houghton Mifflin (USA) Format: Hardcover w/slipcase. Volumes: 1. Originally Published: 1974, revised 1987. Text: 1987 updated second edition (“1965/1966 edition” on copyright page). Printing:...

In pursuit of the Baskervilles' hound. My B & M store has been open a week and things are still a little thin. 1,500 books on the shelf and probably another 3 or 4 thousand to go. So, I'm digging through boxes that haven't seen the light of day in a long time. Some stuff I'm fairly confident in pricing and throwing on the shelves. After what I call 'polishing the books.' Rub them down with a little Goo Gone if they feel grungy, maybe a quick vacuuming. Eventually, I have a pile...
