Hi Everyone, Thank you again for your passion re: our Revised Code of Conduct. We recognize that several of you are discouraged by what you view as a lack of response on eBay’s part to reported listings. Please keep in mind that this is a new policy. As with any new policy/rule, we are working to educate our members before punishing them for doing something they did not even know was against the rules. So, depending on the nature of the violation, we may issue a warning prior to ending a...

Rather than having a couple of dozen threads discussing the various scams perpetrated in the eBay Coins and Paper Money category, I thought that it might be a good idea to just discuss them on one thread that can be bumped occasionally in order to keep it to the top of page one, rather than having to continually bump the many other threads. I think that this would provide a great service to the new people coming to the C&PM board for the first time and make them aware of all of the pitfalls...

Well, Glo and Burroak are hijacking the Italy love it or hate it thread for a global warming discussion, and I wanted to weigh in on the subject. Over the last year, I've read the UN IPCC report in it's entirety, collected and reviewed 100's of documents and web sites, and brought myself back up to speed on the subject of climate change, a field I had been out of for over a decade. The web sites on the subject are split between believers, skeptics and data sources. I'm a skeptic. I want...

Hi , I have a framed collection of US Twentieth Century Type Coins....with about 29 coins listed...all circulated....includes a 1921 Morgan Silver Dollar, 1922 Peace Silver Dollar, 1911 Barber Half Dollar, 1927 Liberty quarter, 1892 Barber quarter?...among others. I have a list of all coins it contains. I am not a collector...just wanted to see if anyone could tell me what it might be worth on ebay.....has everything from pennies to silver dollars. I am looking for a fair starting point for...

A pic of my only Indian Head Cent...1909-S. A key date? Yes. But why is there such a disparity in price compared to the 1877 or the 1909-S VDB Lincoln? Some people say that since it was the last year for the Indian that it was saved in much larger quantities. I don't buy that. First, the 1877 has more than double the mintage(852,000 compared to 309,000), and the 09 SVDB has a higher mintage also (484,000). Second, according to the research I have just done between the population reports...

I thought it might be helpful to have a thread where politically active folks of all stripes could slug it out without taking over single-topic threads like the Silver thread (for example). I couldn't find towboat's old Boxing Ring thread, so I'm setting up a new one.

This is the first collection I have bought. It has $300+ in 90% silver and the only local buyer is offering 11xface. There are 94 40% halves, 104 peace and morgan common date dollars and the local dealer wants them at $13 each. I know how to sell the mint and proof sets, that's no problem. Q: Are all the 1942, 3 ,4 and 5 nickels 35% silver? What would you do with about 40 rolls of '40's, 50's and 60's nickel...I've looked through 4 of the 40's rolls and have nearly a roll of 42,3,4,5...

Yesterday I was messaged that I was entitled to a 10% off any coin auction value of coupon up to $100. This was to cover the Saturday Coin search engine failure. So if I bought a $1,000 coin it would only cost me $900.That's great for the buyers but what about the sellers who's auction sold short of final actual bid or did not sell at all.Fortunately I did not have any auctions ending that night but what of those that did ?Bob

I was just wondering. Is it possible to find out if the coin you buy is a PR70 without paying good money to have it graded? Would a coin shop take a look and tell you if they thought you had a PR70, PR69 or lower? You can imagine that would be a nice thing, Thanks!

Mostly U.S. but I got some nice world coins too. Also I want to see your best shots of your best coins. Don't be intimidated by my monster shots. Give it your best shot and...

Hello Friends, I thought I would mix it up a bit and ask what people listen to (if anything) while reading & posting here. Music is a huge part of my life (for better or worse) but it is always a constant. Does anyone here have a favorite group/band that they listen to and would like to share that with everybody? I will take that next step. My favorite band is Steely Dan and I listen to "AJA" quite often full blast with my JBL L-112's flexing their might and reading the posts here. It...

I am a beginning collector and was wondering what others though of this idea: Goal: build a date/mintmark collection of the now relatively common coins: Jefferson, Roosevelt, Lincoln memorial, Washington, Eisenhower, Susan B, etc... Plan: Purchase us mint and proof year sets (likely from local dealers) and place them in Intercept shield albums, for earlier years for which no sets are available or expensive (i.e prior to 1960s/1950s) like the Jeffersons, Washingtons search for high grade...

Gold is more than just metal, it is a passion. It has been valued for thousands of years, even used as money -- because it is valuable. That value comes from the price paid by those who try to find it and pry it from the Earth, trading their time, their sweat, even their lives. The chart below will show what gold is doing. Its dollar value changes constantly, so by putting the chart here, cluttering the thread with price updates shouldn't be necessary. A link to the main Kitco page is in my...

I have been very discouraged by Morgan Dollars that are fake and are not designated copy. It seems this should be against the law for someone to sell fake as real. I was taken once but I am very careful now. The coin I have does not have lined -up reeding on the edge. It shows an inconsistant irregular reeding. My fault, but this needs to be stopped or turned over to FBI or Secret Service. Ebay would serve a good purpose by turning those ebayers in..

I just sent a grand nephew a $2 "red label" "United States Note" or whatever as part of a cash gift and wondered if it had any collectors value. The condition was pretty worn with some faint vertical faded lines where it had been folded and a couple of nicks on corners. - It looked interesting none the less. Is it a collectors item? or best converted to some movie treat if anything at a movie is $2 or less. thanks for any reply

Well I received a mexican pesos ring yesterday and immediately noted there was something fishy... upon further inspection I could see that the 14k mark was not clear on the inside of the band and the "mexican pesos coin" looked like a shiny 2 tone gold color. The coin was not fine and looked like a cheap costume piece and lastly the reeds were wide and not consistent. So I used my mizar acid tester and the ring turned dark..dark on the band and dark on the bezel. The coin itself being in...

I had this posted on the collectibles board and was advised to post it here on the Coin board. This little dish I think is copper although I am not positive. Not an ashtray (I dont think anyway) It measures a few inches. No reaction to a magnet. It has a 1901 half penny coin set into the center. Anyone seen anything like this? A souvenir piece perhaps? Is it worth listing? I cant find anything like it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Thought it would be neat to post a quote you may have come acrossed that really struck a chord with you. Doesnt have to be long, like a speech, just a brief string of words that just plain makes sense or make something complex simpler. Please state who the author is if known also. I'll start if off with Thomas Jefferson: He who knows nothing is closer to the truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors. Thought it applies here on some level Where did all the good...

I'm a powerseller and am wondering how to insure coins. I have been at it for a while but still don't know. Do to the DSR, I'm inclined to ship coins valued over 2,000 dollars via express mail. But now I'm starting to think I could save money and avoid the risk with just going with the 100 dollars...
