Hi Everyone, Thank you again for your passion re: our Revised Code of Conduct. We recognize that several of you are discouraged by what you view as a lack of response on eBay’s part to reported listings. Please keep in mind that this is a new policy. As with any new policy/rule, we are working to educate our members before punishing them for doing something they did not even know was against the rules. So, depending on the nature of the violation, we may issue a warning prior to ending a...

For some time now I have had about 20 of these little things and not been able to figure out what they are ? Got them at an estate sale in a box. They come in several different colors ... appear to be made of some sort of marble and on all four sides have coins embedded in them. They are 6 sided objects and every side bears a coin read: REPUBLICA DE COLUMBIA and date from 1960s ... mainly 1965. Also at least one of the coins on each figure show some man I an guessing this is the flip...

I've browsed the coin categories a bit recently doing research on various coins. I have seen a seller state in bold font NO PAYPAL NO Mastercard Auction. Then under shipping and payment it states "Amex" as the only accepted payment method. My question is this: Is this a veiled effort by the seller to encourage contact by potential buyers about other payment methods (i.e., checks), or would one really want only Amex? If Amex, what are the advantages to the seller of using Amex (just...

Well are you all ready to do this again? I sure am. I've got a few more pics of some toners that found me recently and would like to show them to you here. Some of the pics will be reruns of greatest hits or reshoots done with a few new tricks I stumbled upon but there are about 50 new coins that haven't been shown anywhere. Mostly U.S. but I got some nice world coins too. Also I want to see your best shots of your best coins. Don't be intimidated by my monster shots. Give it your best shot and...

I purchase coins on a pretty regular basis and greatly appreciate sellers who include the postal tracking number when an item is shipped. I assume the post office tracking info is generated as the PayPal shipping label is created and should be a no-brainer for sellers. This info allows me to anticipate delivery and foil mail box thieves. Please include tracking numbers in your shipment info. Muchas Gracious Kathys Date

I think it was here that someone posted a link to a price guide on-line for world coins but I must have lost the link on my old puter. Also would appreciate specialized links for Norwegian and/or Canadian coins.

Another question I had in regards to opening a store or not . . . what are the pros and cons of shipping worldwide as to just shipping to the U.S.? . . . . I've seen the shipping quotes from a few store owners . . . how can someone in a foreign country pay $14.50 registered mail for a coin that is worth a couple bucks? . . . .

I thought it might be helpful to have a thread where politically active folks of all stripes could slug it out without taking over single-topic threads like the Silver thread (for example). I couldn't find towboat's old Boxing Ring thread, so I'm setting up a new one.

Better get to the store laddie (and DC (dave), and my parents and everyone else in the path). Looks like NYC will get a bit more of it this time. Animated version: Link "climate is what we expect weather is what we get" M. Twain

Rather than having a couple of dozen threads discussing the various scams perpetrated in the eBay Coins and Paper Money category, I thought that it might be a good idea to just discuss them on one thread that can be bumped occasionally in order to keep it to the top of page one, rather than having to continually bump the many other threads. I think that this would provide a great service to the new people coming to the C&PM board for the first time and make them aware of all of the pitfalls...

Baum's Oz: Gold, Silver, and Marx extended excerpt from Henry Littlefield's seminal analysis, "The Wizard of Oz: Parable on Populism", from the American Quarterly, Link In the story, Dorothy is swept away from Kansas in a tornado and arrives in a mysterious land inhabited by `little people.' Her landing kills the Wicked Witch of the East (bankers and capitalists), who `kept the munchkin people in bondage.' In the movie, Dorothy begins her journey through the Land of Oz wearing...

Is there any way to ask eBay to review a bid history? I won this auction, but if you look at the bids, it seems apparent that it was pushed up to my max bid and then the other bidder stopped. I wouldn't think too much about it if the other bidder had more of a winning bid history. The photo of the coins is terrible and there's little reason for anyone else to bid on them, let alone bid to my max and then stop $5 short of winning the auction, imo. Link
