Whenever I make guacamole--it seems to brown up on me almost immediately--I use lemon in it to try to keep it from browning so fast but it still does---Does anyone have any tips on how to keep this from happening so quickly? TIA

I will be cooking two turkeys in the oven at the same time. One is 14 pounds and the other is 13 pounds. How long do you think I should cook these since it equals 27 pounds? Thanks NANCY

I attended a mini-class last night. No turkey was served, just 3 different dressings. One dressing consisted of rice/grain/nuts; the second dressing was a cornbread/cranberry concoction; the third dressing was a mushroom based one. I liked the last 2 the best, the mushroom being an easy winner for me. Oh, and they served pumpkin pie. We sampled 4 different wines while munching on the dressings. It really is amazing how the proper wine brings out the flavor of the food you're eating. I was a...

I have some empty bottles sealed from 1890, 1917, and 1884. Is it possible to find any value on them and, of course, if they are real to begin with?

I just made pumpkin pie squares and I want to dollop whip cream on the top to serve. Anyway I could make it? No clue how, and I have no whipping cream. LOL!! I know, probably easier to just go run to the store and buy a can, but I'm in my jammies! LOL

Hi, does anyone have a fruitcake recipe that calls for pineapple, cherries and pecans only? My family won't eat the cake that has the other fruits in it and loves the one that Nickles Bakery puts out around the holidays for about $30.00. Also, please offer comments about said recipes. Thanks in advance. brighteyes920

Mona, dahlink, I know your b'day is tomorrow (Wednesday), but I won't be around tomorrow to post this, so I figured better a day early than a day late! I HOPE YOU HAVE A WONDERFUL BIRTHDAY, MER!!! "Those are my principles, and if you don't like them...well, I have others." Groucho Marx

Making the brown sugar-butter-karo-condensed milk recipe, I got distracted and let it overcook by a little bit. Disaster. The candy was almost impossible to cut, and we were afraid it would pull our crowns and fillings loose if we ate it. Since it was destined for the trash there was nothing to lose by experimenting a little. I added a few tablespoons of water and put the dish in the microwave on low for a few minutes, smushed up the warm candy real well with a fork to incorporate the...

We got 5 boxes of the big boxes of Velvetta cheese at a Save-a-lot store the other day for .99 CENTS per box! I could not let a buy like that get away from me!--The expiration date IS close but can't I freeze them? Does'nt that stuff last way longer than the expiration date if I keep it refridgerated? Does anyone have any good recipes using it? TIA!

I didn't even know these turkeys were available, but you can buy a turkey with the bones removed (except for the drumsticks). Comes frozen, cranberry stuffing & a pouch of gravy. Has anyone tried these & are they worth the $40? It's a 4.1kg box (approx 9#)

I'm looking for a recipe for lasagna that was on the pasta boxes years ago. It called for several kinds of cheese, including brick. It did not have ricotta. Does this sound familiar to anyone?

I did a search and there's been some discussion on vanilla extract(real, fake, toxic, labeling gimmicks, etc.). I'd like to know of some brands available in the US that are good. I've heard that the best come from Mexico and Madagascar. Some feel the only way to know what you're getting is to simply make your own(with good vodka & vanilla beans?). If that's your recommendation, how do I make sure the vanilla beans are high quality and haven't been through some toxic processing before they...

There is a stunning lack of photos on this board- I love to see photos- of dinner, dessert, cooking projects, kitchens, feasts, potlucks, bbq, gardens- anything food-related! I'm trying to learn to take better photos with my camera. It has a setting just for food. I don't get what that setting does but what the hay- I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved for who I am not
