Hi, Recently, I treated myself to a "Brand New" copy of a hardback published in 1991. Because of allergies to fragrance, I questioned the seller beforehand, and was reassured that the volume was indeed free of any musty smell or scent. The book arrived last Thursday, and when I eagerly opened the package, the smell almost blew me out of the room. Either the book itself had been treated with some kind of spray to mask a musty odor, or it had been kept in a room saturated with air...

I have routinely listed former library books that are gently used as "good". I have seen many, many other listings of this type. However, I've just reviewed the listing guidelines. "Books that have been modified for library circulation" are in the "acceptable" category. It gives these examples under the libary heading: "mylar covers, attached dust jackets, embossed covers or numbered book spines". Does this mean that ANY library book can only be "acceptable" rather than good?...

First, forgive me if this has already been discussed. I just had another sale on Ebay. I couldn't find the date I listed the book. So, it took a little while to locate. When I receive sales thru HDC, the date listed is always given which is a big help in locating the book. What's the difference between an Ebay sale and an HDC sale as far as giving us the date we listed it? I don't understand. I'd appreciate it if someone would let me know what I'm missing.

Is there any way we can get a copy of a removed item to be able to see why it was removed ?? You can't seem to talk to anyone directly, or see the listing. I had a book just removed which was exactly as the listing described, same ISBN number, no marks or shelf wear , never read, so I listed it under Brand New I am sure, but have no way of knowing. Has this happened to others, I don't list my books alphabetically, so they take a lot of time with out the shelf number, and without a copy of...

Hi everyone I'm interested in possibly selling some items through the "Sell It Now" function and wanted to get other people's impressions (buyers and sellers) on how well this feature works. I read under the "Help" section that Sell it Now items need to be sold by sellers with a certain seller rating -- since I'm new to Half.com my rating is currently 0 (haven't received any feedback either way). Is this a problem if I'd like to sell someone an item through Sell it Now? Also, is there...

I have been selling books on half.com for many years and I often sell books that have been ordered by dropshippers. I am curious to know why a person buying a book would order from a dropshipper and not go directly to half.com to do the buying.

How does the buyer now know you actually have what has been ordered? Half.com used to have a link you used to confirm you had the item (s). I don't print my labels through paypal. I use the usps shipping assistant. How does a buyer know their items are on their way? Looking through the sales, I know it says to mark item shipped but the status box says this does not alert the buyer. Since you get no email address of buyers, how do you notify them? Thanks"Death leaves a heartache...

It seems the USPS has recently reviewed what items qualify to be eligible for Media Mail rate and Video Games are no longer allowed. I spoke to a postal service worker about it yesterday and she said this new policy went into effect September 2009. It does not matter if the games are CD, DVD, or cartridge; they are all ineligible. However, educational video games (such as those for use in libraries) might still qualify. Half.com really should reflect this change across their website....

Hey, are there any rules regarding sales tax at Half.com? I understand that sometimes if a buyer comes from the same state as the seller, the seller must add sales tax to the purchase (or sales tax is automatically added by the website). Can anyone share their experiences with this? Thanks!

Around two hours ago I orderd 6 college textbooks for a total of $404.22 on www.half.com. I copied and pasted a screen print of my order to a file on my hard drive, after it was accepted. However I would also like confirmation from half.com as well. I'm still waiting for a confirmation email, and for my purchases to show up in my account on their website. I did not have to wait for them to debit my checking account. Is this normal and typical or is something not right with this situation?

I've read a few threads on this, but I'd still like to get some more thoughts on the best way to pack my books for my buyers. For starters, where do you guys like getting your packing materials from? In the past, I've recycled bubble wrap and air pillows that I've received in packages that were sent to me and also used wadded-up plastic bags to provide additional padding when I shipped a book in a slightly bigger box. As far as boxes go, I like recycling, so I've used Wal Mart boxes that...

I just got two orders from a dropshipper for the same address except for a reference number on the name line. E.g., John Smith REF #12345 address city, state ZIP and John Smith REF #67890 address city, state ZIP It's obviously cheaper for me to combine the two orders in one package, but I'm hesitant to do so. Has anyone here run into this?

thought i would open a fun topic...hope maybe some will have fun with it? I thought perhaps we could post our best buys that we have found so far...did you find something for free, that you posted for $50? Or did you sell a book for $55 that you found in the trash? Yeah, yeah. I know...the prices that you compare to, are the ones that haven't sold yet. But...we can have fun here, right? Here's my first posting...i'm HOPING it will work out, LOL! The Law of Higher Education....

Weird deal, I haven't listed anything on 1/2 for more than a year. Nothing was left listed etc. Today I received an email notifying me that I had sold a movie that I listed 11/09/09, but I didn't list it nor anything else. The email links back to eBay and all of the links are useable but have no idea how this was listed or sold. Does 1/2 have a problem with listing glitches? Got me stumped and the item is a video that I've never owned, nor even heard of. Strange

I've emailed half.com and ebay both about the above error. I get this when trying to add ANY of my four credit cards. I previously had some and took them all off to add and leave just one new card. Everytime I get a response from ebay/half they say I am putting the information in wrong. However I know it's something to do with putting too many cards onto the account and they can unblock it just like they do on ebay. Can anyone please help. I love half.com, but can't use it because I have no...
