Hello everyone, In preparation for an upcoming article in the Community Chatter I wanted to ask all of you to share your best tips for packaging your items. What sorts of materials do you use? Do you recycle certain items or buy new materials for each shipment? How do you make sure that breakables get to their destination safely?. Any tips you are willing to share with others are appreciated. Maeve

Hi, I recently moved to Germany and have an APO address. I did a lot of buying prior to this but haven't bought anything yet except from several merchants and have received all my products in less than a week. I have emailed two sellers asking if they ship to APO and one asked me if that was the same as PO. When I explained what it was, I never heard back. The other seller never answered me either. Do sellers not know what APO is? Do I have to ask everytime now that I bid on an...

Hello. I've been buying off Ebay for almost a year now and have never had any issues with anybody I've had transactions with. And I really even hate to bring this up because ultimately, it is only over .37 cents! But it's the principle of the issue that has been bugging me for a day and a half now. Here's the thing: I purchased an item from a seller with the 'Buy it Now' option. The seller had offered 3 different shipping options. 1st. Media Mail for $2.88. 2nd. US Postal Service First Class...

Hello I was wondering... When I am tracking my item that I have bought, is the "Acceptance Date" the day that the seller actually sent the item? My seller told me that she had shipped my item on Nov 13, but the USPS tracking info is telling me that the acceptance date is Nov 20... So does that mean that the seller didn't actually ship until the 20th? Thanks.

How do I get around Ebay's limit on shipping cost via Media Mail. I have a book that weighs over 5 lbs. Post Office via Media Mail says shipping is $4.33, plus $0.80 for delivery confirmation so I can get Paypal seller protection with proof of delivery. Ebay says I can't set the flat rate shipping price above $3.00. It will not calculate Media mail. It will only do first class. I either have to loose money on shipping or price myself out of the market on the shipping cost. How do I...

Attention sellers, the USPS is now reserving the right to open all packages labeled Media Mail. You will now be required to fill out a form and if your package does not meet media mail requirements, it will be sent back to you or you will be billed for the difference due. Today 11/24/09 was the first day the Postal Employee had mentioned the new restrictions. I have to ship media mail to keep costs down.. but I'm nervous about someone opening my packages and possibly damaging my item in the...

Ok, I hope you could help me out with this one. I am in Mexico, but my family it's in USA. So, I bid and one a PSP for $113 USD. I told the seller I had problems paying the item, because I got an error saying there was something wrong with my address. The seller responded that I should fix the problem by myself and I had 48 hrs to do it. So, the seller then said he would only shipped to a confirmed PayPal Address, I do have a confirmed PayPal address but in Mexico, not in the USA, but...

I recently shipped an Apple iPod to Kazakhstan. Once the buyer received the item, I got an email stating it was not working properly. I offered to exchange or refund - like sellers are "forced" to do just so positive feedback can be maintained. Once the iPod was delivered back to me, there was water under the screen, 183 songs had been downloaded and the games played. Any suggestions on how to handle this buyer? I know that I, as a seller, do not have a choice but issue the refund.....I...

Over the past month, over 10% of my USPS First Class Signature Confirm Pkgs have either disappeared or been delivered without being scanned or in some case incorrectly scanned as NOTICE Left. When they disappear it is sometimes after reaching the final destination but not always. With lost pkgs, last scans have included Los Angeles, Anaheim, and Houston. Especially with regard to the pkgs that have been lost, I wonder if there is a possibility SC pkgs are targeted by thieves handling...

If my sales ever become substantial I'll most likely become self-insured but I'd like to consider if it'd be worth getting insurance for the initial ones. The threads on this forum have persuaded me to avoid buying it through the postal service as most claims get rejected. What independent insurance companies do you guys use? How would you rate their service in terms of paying you when they should? If they're just as bad as the postal service then I'll opt to skip the insurance and begin...

So i program calculated shipping tool to charge free shipping to usa and...

I am in an unusual situation - I have, and receive mail at, a PO Box, 13 miles from my home (that's where the closest PO is). I am living in a condo complex where the office has a mailbox for their (the office's) incoming and outgoing mail. There is a small area for outgoing, if I have a small package I leave it there. If I had a large package and wanted to schedule a "Carrier pickup", could I? Technically the carrier is not "my" carrier since he does not deliver my mail.

I bought an item and recieved a DC # from the seller on the 15th of November. If I look up the tracking # on USPS it shows the package was accepted on Nov. 16th however since then nothing has update. I know as a seller when I ship a product and get DC #'s it will tell me when it was accepted and the different sorting facilities it has gone through. Should I be concerned or does it not show any information sometimes? I would think by now it would show something. Thanks for any help!

This is a minor rant. I sent out 7 identical packages, only 2 have ever arrived. The post office is still 'searching'. The buyers dinged my shipping time stars (taking too long). I send notification of date of shipping, it's not my fault if someone in the system has sticky fingers. Patience, grasshopper, patience....maybe the package IS in the mail. These were one of a kind things and I have no more. Bummer.

want to sell an antique table. I have researched shipping and found it way too expensive for the buyer and too much of a hassle to get the table where the shipper is located. I have looked at other postings and some have recommended selling locally only. How is this done? Do I just put this in listing? Is there a place to do this in the add? Oh and the other thing is some recommended cash upon pick-up and excluding Pay Pal. I am a novice at this. What the heck do I do?

I have a package that the Ebay item + bubble mailer weighs 8 ounces. I am concerned that if I print an online Paypal label for 8 ounces, the small weight of the shipping label paper + tape to attach the label + tape to secure the back of the bubble mailer may cause my item to weigh just a little more than 8 ounces...for example 8.1 ounces. If this happens, will my package be returned, I will lose the postage I already paid and I will have to pay again for 9 ounces?

We've been a member of Ebay for a few years but we didn't really sell much. We mostly purchased items. Recently with the dip in the economy we've been selling quite a few items. However we need to perfect our shipping and maybe save a little time so that buyers receive items faster. We've shorted ourselves on shipping costs and a few times we've charged a little too much. What's the best way to determine how to ship an item? Some items are easy to determine but others are not. Do you have...

Last time it was thiefery and they told me stuff is starting to disapper again after it hits Atlanta. Soooo... beware. Has anyone had this happen of late? I sold an item last night and put the international shipping calculator as Priority International. Yes, I went back and checked and that is correct. A person from Canada bought it and the calculator charged it as US Parcel Post so that is what the buyer paid, thinking they had a great deal, no doubt. PayPal and eBay both list the shipping address as Canada. This is the first time I've ever seen this. Anyone else, and any advice? Thanks.
