Hello everyone, In preparation for an upcoming article in the Community Chatter I wanted to ask all of you to share your best tips for packaging your items. What sorts of materials do you use? Do you recycle certain items or buy new materials for each shipment? How do you make sure that breakables get to their destination safely?. Any tips you are willing to share with others are appreciated. Maeve

Hi, I recently moved to Germany and have an APO address. I did a lot of buying prior to this but haven't bought anything yet except from several merchants and have received all my products in less than a week. I have emailed two sellers asking if they ship to APO and one asked me if that was the same as PO. When I explained what it was, I never heard back. The other seller never answered me either. Do sellers not know what APO is? Do I have to ask everytime now that I bid on an...

Hi I asked the seller if he could ship to Sweden and that was no problem. I bidded and won the item. Then when I got the invoice it was $20 in shippingcost + an additional $23.99 "Seller discounts(-) or charges(+)". I refused to pay and he relisted the item. Now he has opened a case against me and I must pay before the 14th of march "to avoid an unpaid item being recorded on your account (and possible restrictions)." FOR THE LOVE OF GOD!!!!!

As sellers, what is your comfort level for sending items overseas where no tracking or insurance is available ( I mean FCI or PM FRE). I have not had one lost, but I get nervous if the item is worth more than $20 or so. I am just a small seller. Am I too nervous? I am wondering if I should purchase third party insurance but at $1.50 to $2.00 a pop it seems high. I have to tell myself, if I had blocked int'l buyers, I would not have got the highest possible price.

"I had a buyer claim an item was damaged during shipping (USPS). Claims it is my fault because it was not packed properly. Buyer took the item apart (electronics) and stated he is positive it is shipping damage. Now wants either a full refund or will keep and accept a partial refund. I stated No Returns Accepted in the listing. Item was shipped in perfect condition as described. Should I refund or wait for his claim and see how it will be settled.".

I'm still new to selling on ebay and when creating the listing I checked off shipping to US(and NO other countries) However, my winning bid happens to be from the UK. What do I do?!!! I only listed shipping price to be $6.95 -can I ask her to pay the extra for shipping? How much will it cost me to ship a jacket to the UK? It can't possibly be worth it! Oh my goodness, I've only sold 2 things so far and have had an issue with both of the buyers!(the other one had a problem with paypal!) Now I...

I'm disposing of my fathers antique gun collection online (no, not on ebay) and looking for any advice others might have on packaging the items. Most are long civil war era muskets (55"-60"). They are going USPS. I've shipped many items of regular size and my wares are for the most part fragile, just never shipped any guns before. Thanks for any help. diggerdirect

I used to use UPS for most of my shipping needs in the past, but i just started selling again. I just sold a package and went to ship via paypal, and it was going to cost me $66 to ship. USPS is only $23 for the same item...I mean really? Every single item I compared was about double or more for UPS. Please tell me there is a glitch in the paypal system, or I think USPS is my new shipping specialist.

I sent a package and the buyer just emailed me and said it was all torn up(the jiffy padded envelope)and some of the contents were missing. What is the best way to handle this? I am not doubting him,but if it's the post office fault why should I refund or take a bad feedback for it? I have never encountered this situation before and want to know what to do.The buyer didn't purchase insurance, nor was it offered.I sent deliver confirmation but that still doesn't take care of the damaged package...

I tried to print a shipping label through the Ebay site. The label would not print. I checked the box that said the "label didn't print" and it took me directly back to the Ebay auction/sold item. (back to where I started from ) But then I noticed a tracking number listed on this item . So I immediately checked PayPal and there was a charge for the shipping. How frustrating! I have been all over the Ebay site trying to find an Ebay person to talk to and haven't been successful. (more...

This is about my frustration with sellers who insist on charging $10.70 or so for Priority Mail Flat Rate Boxes to ship items that don't even weight up to a pound packaged. I collect doll house furniture. And I know that about 10 pieces of Renwal will fit into a small Priority mail box and can ship for $5.50 (or whatever that box currently goes for). But sellers will use the larger more expensive Priority Mail Flat Rate box that is meant to ship heavier things. USPS Flat Rate does not save a...

Ebays shipping calculator is not only very often incorrect it is unecessarily complicated. You have to check the priority cost and then go back and change the drop down to parcel post and then go back and change carriers to UPS and choose UPS. It's exhausting, but I haven't been able to find another solution. I would love to go to a website that shows me all of my options after I've only plugged in weight, zip, etc. Does this exist? Thanks in advance for your help.

Does anyone know of the most inexpensive way to ship to Canada that has delivery confirmation? If I use USPS international priority it will cost $20. Most of my sales are under $50 and the buyers from Canada won't pay that to have the items shipped (I can't say that I blame them either). I just had two payments reversed out of Paypal because the items have not shown up. They were shipped first class international from USPS. While I don't agree with the Paypal decision there does not seem to be...

I'm stumped. Shipped item back in Feb, 15 days later, buyer emails that it hadn't arrived yet. Delivery Confirmation says, yes, attempt to delivered, and notice was left. Buyer now says never got the note. Item has not been returned to me yet. nothing new on the delivery confirmation. Buyer now requesting a full refund, b/c "paying postage a 2nd time she could not justify in her budget" anyone ever deal with this? Just don't seem right I have to give a refund. thanks

First, I didn't come to whine, complain or cry. I would simply like to see what others think. I'm going to use Hot Wheels cars for an example simply because I do more buying and selling in that category than in any other. I have seen this in many other categories as well. It seems to be a growing trend among a lot of sellers to have simply outrageous shipping charges especially in the category mentioned above. I see so many listings anymore that have a 99 cent car listed and $6+ as shipping...

I just bought one at a garage sale for a GREAT deal (I actually offered a very low-ball price because it didn't have a price on it, and the lady countered back with an even lower price)! What can Ebay do about un-scrupulous Sellers profiteering and or overcharging on the shipping fees? I just ran into a seller that was selling two items I was interested in, I sent an email early on in the bidding asking about combining the shipping costs if two items were won. I was sent several letters and also dropped off some packages athe the post office. They said they label postage date and the ship date must be the same. I figure who cares? They have my money anyway. anyone else hear this? If they are looking to save money and cut costs there are MANY other ways to save. Everyone in the suburbs should have those multi boxes, there should be no postal employees walking around hand delivering mail to houses in some areas where they do no have mailboxes....

Hi everyone, I have been shopping on Ebay for almost 6 years now, never have a problem until recently I am having some concern. Here is the situation. I won an item on 02/25/10 and paid for it right away. The item was shipped on until 03/03/10 per the seller (he has 173 rating of 100%) and that was after me sending an email asking him the status of the shipping. He did not reply, but just marked as shipped. The only shipping method provided was "Standard Flat Rate Shipping Service"...

I know that ebay can make no money from a seller shipping but ebay needs to do something about some of these sellers asking 2 or 3 times what they pay to ship an item. If they charge $9.00 to ship a small item that weights around a pound then make them ship it out at $9.00 and not $2.65 and then pocket the rest. I know that we as buyers do not have to bid on these items but it seams that more and more are going this route. Ebay stops all the other junk , so jump on this. Please. everything...

I sell antique sterling silver and would like to know the best way to ship items internationally. Sending things by USPS first class international has been such a headache that I've stopped accepting international bids on my items. Is there an easier way?
