I'm starting this thread for people who would like to post photos and get feedback. Those posting photos should expect to receive more than just praise. Instead, they should expect honest, constructive criticism. Those posting comments and critiques (C&C), should avoid simple statement like "that's great," or equally simple insults, like, "that's lousy." You can say what you like or don't like, but the idea is to provide comments the photographer can evaluate and use for self-improvement....

[IMG]Link[]/IMG (I hope this works ~ I'm outta practice posting here) I am by no means an expert on real-photo postcards, but have seen and sold my share. I have never seen this type, however, and wondered if there is a name for the style (Duplex, perhaps?). Also, does anyone know if the style of camera used to capture it has a name? The photo itself is really cool. It is unidentified, but is of a 'batchelor pad' circa 1910 ~ there is a celluloid collar on the mirror post...

Bunches of outstanding pictures have been posted throughout this board. If you're like me, I may "see" other pictures within many of those and wonder if they can be improved upon with cropping, color correction, highlight control, etc., etc. I'm throwing out three pictures for any of you who want to give your personal interpretation of any (or all) of them. Two are scans of some old (about 40yo) B&W 8x10s and one is directly from a recent SD card. Except for removing some dust specks from...

How about a thread about architecture of where you live . . . A few description, comment, background etc. I am going start off with an apartment building in the Bronx, NY. Look at the detail. They certainly don't do it like this anymore. I talked to a tenant living there while I was appreciating the architect. He told me that this building is over 65 years old. He is paying $1,100 for a 4 bedroom 1-1/2 bath apartment, heat included. The rent is under rent-control. The area is...

Hello. I have this unusual signed white Castle poster print. Had it for a few years and remember contacting the gallery who at that time represented Tice to inquire about it. Of course I can't remember the gallery or the name of the gallery owner! Hell! I may have even posted here before about this and can't remember that either! :D He did confirm the signature but had no idea why this print was created or by who. Said he would ask George but never heard back. Anyway, I'm trying to...

I heard that ebay only holds on to pics and descriptiond for 60 or 90 days. Then what? I don' want to have to redo. Anyway, I'm not a wiz at this, and I had a friend walk me through how to save some pics from pic maneger into my docs. I accidentilly put some i there that i hadn't listed yet, now i'm trying trig to reverse the process. Paint isn't workig for me, I want to get them in pic manager. I need slow step by step instructions. Any help from a patient person? Thanks, Margo

Folks I need your help in picking a Canon for my daughter. She is a die hard Canon user, but only has a Rebel X something she takes some great pictures with, but I like to get her something better as she is very serious in pursuing photography. She takes mostly outside pictures, landscapes and people, and would like to expand her horizons into documentary photography. As neither her or I have the funds to go up to the professional line, I am looking for ideas from you folks in what to look...

Up until last week, I shot nothing but JPG. I relied on bracketing to get the exposure I prefer. My hesitation of shooting raw was the humongous file size. Initially, I shot it at 14 bit which was the camera's fault setting and ended up with a 24mb file. I was having difficulty dealing with a lot of large files like this because of the transfer device I used to have. Recently I resolved the transfer problem with a new Express 54 card. And a fellow in my club told me about the 12 bit...

Hi folks, I have a real photo postcard I am trying to get more info on. It shows either a parade or a funeral, not sure which. The stamp box on the back dates it between 1904 and 1918, but it is not postmarked, so I have no way of knowing the date or the place in the picture. If anyone can shed any light on what this is, where it is, and even narrow the date down, I'd be more than grateful. Here's the image:

--The NYTimes today (Wednesday) had an Art Section article about how a helium baloon was sent up with a Canon G-9 point and shoot camera, and when some 800 feet over the desired photo landscape target, the camera took a picture (published with the article). --How can such a camera be triggered at the desired moment? I went to Canon's G-9 site and didn't see clarification.

It has been a long time since I stopped by this board I've been taking photos of friends' kids/families for years and just give them a disk of photos. With both kids in school all day I decided to make this hobby something that earns money. Basically, I want to be able to report income, pay taxes and bank the money in a business acct to keep it all separate. If this goes well I will upgrade my camera, and I do need to get a new laptop and PC because these old things can't keep up with...

Be aware that the SVP Digital scanner, which can scan negatives, has a defective film tray. The cogs for holding the film are incorrectly spaced and your film notches will be damaged when the film is put on the cogs. The film will not be held in proper alignment and the tray lid will not close properly. A pair of cogs is also missing at one end of the tray. There is also no slots at the end of the tray so uncut film may not be scannable.
