There's a new bill that has passed for Montgomery County Maryland. It's a Secondhand Property Bill enacted on March 31, 2009. I put a copy of the text of the bill in the toolkit area of the TA Portal. All TAs & REDOLs will have access to it, but it is important that those TAs & REDOLs that are affected, read it. Sharon

Hubby bought a hardcover, five volume set of Civil War books. They arrived today. Each book was wrapped in a piece of tissue and the entire lot was placed in a trash bag. The box had an inch of air around the books. There was a tear in the side and the single piece of tape on the bottom was almost off. I put my finger in the tear and easily tore the box open. Miraculously, the books were not damaged. I am thinking leaving a nuetral with a 3 out of 5 for S&H. Too harsh? As sellers, we...

Online selling is one thing, face to face is another. When I compare the two, the time element is the biggest difference, and hand in hand with that is the audience it's put in front of. At the end of the day, one can fetch more money (online) but it comes with a different set of baggage than face to face (time and effort). I've decided with the massive load of estate baubles I have to host a small private viewing to purchase locally. I'm in the very early stages of planning that. I have...

"The buyer's name and shipping address could not be pre-filled because your eBay username has not been added to your PayPal profile. To add your eBay username to your PayPal profile, go to your PayPal Account Profile and click on the Auctions link in the Selling Preferences column." I just added my ebay name to my paypal information, but when I try to print label for shipping it is still giving me this message. Help is greatly appreciated as I am new to ebay, and do not want to have my...

I'm going to be given a public space for an office at the shop. My photography/storage is going to be in a separate area though. I'm in a antique mall now which is huge. Boss would like to have an area in public view to advertise consignment/internet services. I know I need to design signing, have a desk, the basics...but am wondering if anyone has photographs, ideas to share while I pull this part together. Any ideas or experience to share?

I am considering taking additional training through ebay university and dropping $150 on the certified consultant exam. Has anyone here done that? If so, was it worthwhile to your consulting business? Thanks!Detroit Area Trading Assistant Link

On another board for T/A's, which is not very active, there was a survey as to where people were conducting their business. The question was, if they worked from home VS having a B&M Store as a Drop Off Location. I was surprised to learn that over 50% were operating from home, actually closer to 60%. This is a much more active board, plus I think more people that are actually doing consignment sales as a business. I'm curious to know where you Guys operate your business from ?? Currently I...

I shy away from anything even remotely VERO, Channel/Rolex/Juicey faster than I run from mutant beanie babies. I have major trust issues and am extremely protective of my feedback. Plus, being not so bright, I hate anything complicated. Hubby bought a Omega watch and after posting on the watch board, it appears to be geniune. Lots of interest. I have received 5 questions since I posted about if I am putting it up. Here's the posting. Can I get some basic advice here? Is it worth...

I am being asked by a stranger what % I charge for listing cars, I have never listed cards before so I would like to inquire here please before I should answer him. Two things, what % should I charge? Next, what terms should I give since car issues will be complicated such as vehicle not working as described after buyer takes possession e.t.c? Thanks.

Recently two clothing consignment stores in San Antonio, TX where I live have raised their commissions such that the client only gets 35%. YES, you heard me correctly, the person with the goods gets the meager 35%. Previously they had a 60% shop-40% customer for high end designer items, not under $10 cheapo stuff. Are you seeing eBay Trading Assistant consignment sellers and consignment store raising their fees in your city?Linda Free Sign Up!

Yeah, so this agent will pick up this $800 jukebox this week, haul it to his house, the buyer paid this morning and will be back in town next month to pick it up. Got that? Read it again. I sort of know the agent. I don't know if he has anything in writing from the buyer saying he can pick this up. I don't know how to word a receipt so the agent can sign it saying he picked up the item and is responsible for it. I don't know much. How do I do this? I read through our other threads, but...
