From Anne D'Innocenzio, AP Business Writer on Yahoo News. This is one of the best articles I've seen that explains the current market. Excerpts include: 1. Secondhand merchandise online is going for 25 to 35 percent below what it commanded a year ago, estimated Brian Riley, senior analyst at research firm The TowerGroup. 2. Baughman, who runs eBizAuctions, said that over the past four months she's been working with mostly desperate sellers instead of mainly casual ones. Most...

It was announced about a year ago that we can not have the word "auction" in our ID unless we are licensed. Well, I am now licensed as an Auction Company. The question is: Where do I send the paperwork? I've been sending emails for two weeks and can not get a reply from anyone. Thank you in advance. LG Auction Service

eBay needs us!!! Be sure to see the video at Link Here's the story: eBay Says Big-Box Retailers Trying to Shut It Down By Ina Steiner AuctionBytes.com December 05, 2008 "eBay's lobbyist joined retailers and antitrust experts in Washington, D.C. on Thursday to discuss the Retail Price Maintenance (RPM), calling it "price fixing." The hubbub is over the Leegin Supreme Court ruling that overturned a law that had prohibited manufacturers from punishing retailers for selling at...

I've been optimistic that consignment, resale, eBay Trading Assistants, eBay Drop Off Stores would thrive during this economic meltdown. Maybe I was wrong for NEW items where the supply greatly exceeds demand. When something is already 70% off at the brick & mortar store, there's not much room left for commissions and profit for the consignor. See The Huffington Post's Nov. 27 "Holiday Season May Already Be Over For Frantic Retailers" article posted by AuctionBytes at: Link What's...

Western union is not the safest way for me because i dont know this guy.He sent to confirm that everything is fine to me "invoice for ebay purchases" it looks like there's everything there (seller id,item description etc.)-I've never deal with anything like that so my question is: is that safe? Can I consider it as a proof that ebay...

Lorrie Norrington's post on the General Announcement board: Since taking on the role of President, eBay Marketplace Operations in January of this year, I’ve had an opportunity to meet and talk with thousands of community members in places like New Orleans, Washington DC, San Jose and elsewhere. I am looking forward to meeting many more of you in Chicago at eBay Live! June 19-21, 2008. To date, 2008 has been an exciting year full of significant changes for eBay and accordingly for many of...

Found this from AuctionBytes. Link Online auction site eBay has built a dedicated following since launching over a decade ago. The site marketed itself as a bargain-hunters paradise, specialising in cut-price, second hand bargains - and made millionaires out of "everyday" entrepreneurs in the process. Having built itself into a global billion-dollar business dominating the etailer market, it now wants to rid itself of its "flea market" image given the slew of copycat rivals and more...

From Ina Steiner at AuctionBytes: "eBay Sellers Should Brace for Monday's Major Announcement" on Monday at Link Here's the first paragraph: "eBay is making a major announcement on Monday, CEO John Donahoe told Wall Street. This the second of two announcements this year that eBay is making that affect sellers - the first announcement was made in April and those changes rolled out in June. The second set of changes, called "SR2," will roll out in about 60 days, prior to the holiday...

How many eBay Trading Assistant consignment sellers will this affect? "The new program goes into effect in October, at which time the current PowerSeller icon will no longer be displayed." To Joe Average on the street, I think PowerSeller connotes volume and the term sometimes had to be explained. The new "Top-Rated Seller" term sounds like it covers more facets in determining the best all around sellers. What do you think? See Link Linda Free Sign Up!

Item sold for $174. Pretty good for the 50 cent investment. Anyway, after the winning bidder paid and I was packing, I get this LLllloooooooonnnggggGGGGG email about how this person entered $375 into his new sniping software and left for the weekend CONFIDENT he had one. Monday morning he was LIVID to see it had sold to someone else. I suggested he contact the software company. I shipped the item to the winning bidder. I got several more emails from him, which I ignored. Did I do right???...

Has anyone else seen this with their BIN listings? I list my 30 day BIN items with 'require immediate payment'. But twice recently, somehow, a buyer won the item but didn't make the immediate payment - and one of those (last month) turned into an UID and the second (today) hasn't paid yet. How is it technically possible to do this - win a BIN that requires the immediate payment, but not pay it? When I buy BIN items myself I am redirected through PayPal to complete the transaction....

Ina Steiner of AuctionBytes brought this to my attention from our very own Skip McGrath: Be Careful: Your Stimulus Tax Break Could Cost You Money & A Head's up on State Sales Tax Link Starting next month if you are employed you will receive $13 more in each Paycheck --You may not want to take it. We all like free money. Although Karen and I are technically self-employed, we do as a corporation and we are employees of our own business. We needed to make some changes to our...
