12 Free pics...does this apply to folks like me that do auction only and does it now apply to every category. Hard to tell how these changes affect folks that only list in the auction format.

Hi viewmasterlady, There are no changes to the picture fees for auction listings. If you do not have an eBay store, first picture is free of charge and each additional picture is $0.15. If you have an eBay store, all pictures are free. Thank You Pricing Team

We as sellers will be charged for shipping costs? What if something isn't that cheap to ship. What will the fee be?

I have a question about the free listings for non-store subscribers. If I understand this correctly, if you pay for a store, you are penalized by being excluded from free listings... yet these non-store subscribers have the opportunity to flood my categories with cheap stuff at no cost. How does Ebay justify this? Last time you did this my sales were cut dramatically because no one wanted to sift through page after page of freely listed garbage to get to my paid-for listings. It makes no sense.

I don't understand this new policy of charging sellers the 9% final value fee for shipping costs. Doesn't that mean sellers now have the incentive to mark up shipping costs 9%? If it costs a seller $10 to ship something, he is not going to pay $0.90 of that himself. This policy is absurd and will drive shipping costs up dramatically for buyers.

If I open an ebay store do I have to keep track of sales and or tax for the government? Is it like a brick and mortar store as far as filing reports for my state?

Well ebay is now going to charge final value fee for shipping too. That is only going to benefit ebay not the buyer. As the seller I will have to do what all sellers will do and pass the cost on the buyer. So you tell me how it benefits the buyer?????

I am glad to see eBay charge FVF on shipping - it was long over due! It forces all sellers to shoulder a relatively equal share of site costs. However, this change now makes the DSR for shipping cost unnecessary. Removing the DSR would allow sellers to charge a fair shipping cost rather than shipping at a loss. Now, with FVFs in shipping many sellers may want to increase shipping but DSRs for shipping will make an increase in shipping costs counter productive. Is eBay considering dropping the shipping DSR? Better still, can it be replaced with a packing quality DSR? Are there any changes in DSRs that sellers can expect? eBay can not continue to take an ever increasing amount from sellers without allowing sellers to increase their fees as well. Never ever use a mail forwarding service based in Florida. Additionally, never use or accept a package from any mail forwarding service based in Italy.

Is Ebay aware that Paypal also takes 8% of any money I receive for shipping charges? I have always charged only what I pay for shipping, I combine shipping whenever possible and so I have never made money on shipping, only lost. So, how does this help me as a seller? It seems to me that Ebay's intent in this 'update' is simply to get more sellers to have stores. I don't want a store. Adding shipping fees to our final value fee will make me unable to ship internationally. One man recently had to pay $60 to have an item shipped to China. So, how does it help a buyer to know that the shipping charges will increase to cover not only the cost of shipping, but also the cost of Ebay's percentage on the shipping. Who is in charge on this ridiculous idea? It does not help anyone but Ebay. This is about how to make money for Ebay, not help sales increase. shesellshisclutter

Final value fee on shipping as well goes directly against the spirit of eBay. My shipping is a straight pass through and now you want to make money on it? Give me a break! eBay is biting the hand that feeds it again!!!

If you raise shipping costs to cover the extra 9%, you're going to pay 9% on the mark-up too. If you offer free shipping and raise your item prices, ebay still wins, sellers lose. Guess ebay wants the same deal PayPal's been getting all these years.

This is ebay's sneaky backdoor way of getting a piece of that USPS discount for online postage.

First ebay raises FVF from 5.25% to 9%. Now, they include shipping in the FVF. How does that benefit sellers?? My shipping cost is usually around $6.50, which is what I charge the buyer. I am not gouging. Now I have to pay 9% of that, or 55 cents. Oh yeah, the listing fee of 25 cents is brought to zero for the first 50 auctions, but that still increases my cost to 30 cents per listing. They say this is going to reduce our costs. Is this Orwellian or what? And not to mention, the FVF max is raised from $50 to $100. Seems like the only one benefiting is ebay corporation.

Wow... this really is ludicrous. Just to get this straight, it benefits "everyone" that we're now going to be charged on shipping? How? Obviously, shipping costs will go up by 10%. We don't ship as a favor to the buyer. Nor should we be penalized for selling something large or heavy, like a bicycle. Now, those $150 shipping costs will be $165. Gee, thanks eBay! I guess we'll have to explain to our buyers that they are NOW covering shipping, handling, exorbitant packing material prices and eBay's increases.

I also think that eBay is gouging the seller by now making a profit on shipping. I try to just past costs thru for shipping and already get complaints from buyers - now I have to charge more! ALSO - I am SICK TO DEATH of people bidding and not paying! eBay should make everyone register a credit card and IMMEDIATELY charge their card for the cost of the item upon winning the item. Then, the seller can separately bill shipping and other costs/discounts. Everyone wins with this system - the seller gets paid and eBay doesn't have to jump thru hoops trying to get an unpaid item paid for!!! Rally around this idea!!! Tami

That means about 10.5% markup to cover it. When you have a monopoly it's easy to pull this kind of stunt.

How can you advise us to keep shipping costs down? Now I will have to raise my shipping fees to cover your shipping commission. Also, in the Seller Dashboard there is no way to track which items have received low DSRs for high shipping costs. Are there any fee changes that will positively benefit sellers? Also, not being able to give a buyer a negative feedback is not a fair and balanced structure.

You have that right FEEBAY. This will increase prices and I will have to add a % to the shipping charge now. I already have to do that for paypal, now it will have to be further increased. They are not saving buyers any money! I may additionally close my store and go to other services as there are some new sites that may offer me a location to sell. I have been selling a mass collection of mine, so I am not a real retailer, I am not making any money on my items. Ebay thinks we are all wholesalers, I am making no profit, so they are further gouging additional money out of my pocket by removing the 5%. FedUPBay S

This is a comment: I think by taking away the insertion fees, this will generate a lot more revenue for you, ebay. It is a great option for us sellers that are not sure if an item will sell, to save on this cost. However, I do have a negitive thought, the final value fee being assessed to shipping revenue will only drive up the handling fee. Buyers already try to keep ship costs as low as we can get them, sometimes even below what it actually costs to ship an item. If we are loosing a % to ebay, this will only drive up the costs of shipping now.
