Stock Photos with Trading Cards

Any Trading card sold as an individual is no longer "New" once the package has been opened.  There are many stock photos of these currently listed.

Will we be required to use actual photos?

Will this only apply to new, revised and updated listings?

What happens to the listings already up?

Will they be removed?

In keeping the competition fair, how do we report those that do not comply with the new policies?

Starting May 1—get up to 2,500 FREE listings* every month with an eBay Stores subscription

eBay has reduced the upfront cost to sell for Store sellers! With eBay’s new everyday rate plans, you get from up to 150 to 2,500 FREE listings* per month—no insertion fees, auction-style or fixed price—with an eBay Stores subscription. You pay a final value fee only when you sell! Plus, the final value fees for Stores have been streamlined to just 5 competitive category-based rates as low as 4%—and never more than 9%—regardless of how you sell.

When eBay says

"new, revised and updated listings"

That means every single ad you have up this month that you plan on having up next month would be affected.

GTC listings "Renew" every month, and because they do they will be affected.

Hello crystalspiderco,

Great questions. Comments/Responses below:

  • The “no-stock photo” policy only applies when you list used items against the catalog. If you list against the catalog and you sell a used item outside of Books, Music, Movies, Video Games, and Motors you cannot use the eBay stock photo as the primary picture for your listing in 2013. We will only enforce this policy in 2013. You have the remainder of 2012 to prepare for this requirement.
  • For trading cards because there is no catalog you are not required to use an actual photo. It is encouraged, but not mandated or required.
  • When we enforce the “no-stock-photo” photo policy in 2013 and initially it will only apply to new, revised, and relisted listings.
  • We have not announced any plans to action listings already up and as we enforce the policy against new, revised, and relisted listings we will evalulate the need enforce for listings already on the Site.
  • We currently have no plans to pull down listings from the Site that are not compliant with our photo policies.
  • As we enforce our picture policies we will be carefully monitoring listings and if there are listings which are in violation of our policies we will action those listings as appropriate. In addition we will be updating our report an issue flow to ensure the community can report and police listings

Thanks for your questions.
