hi,
I really don't understand what this person meant by telling not to use your ID in discussion boards!
I don't know what you are selling. The info you have to use is sth about your work. this page is about helping you to sell better and help buyers to know you better.
your email there is not reason to add it cause if somebody wants to contact you he/she can anyway. (via ebay)

you can find sellers that sell the same thing as you do and check their bio for getting some idea. More pictures I think you can add if you use HTML.

good luck

Hi Mandy!!! :^O

What are you planning on selling? i've just started and its been going good so far, i started buying first and worked my way up, everything i've read here has been real helpful!

Sells have been good, oh im not sure but i made a ME page to add pics to. Just go to the bottom of another persons me page, like go to mine, and at the bottom it says 'create a me page'! :)

Hope you come back to the board, hope i can find my way back!

just a sugestion from a grandma - don't put anything on your "me" page that you would not print out and hand to all the inmates at your local jail - :O

you workplace, school etc info can lead people to you and then to your home. Not a good idea on an open venue -

a statement like "I work as manager of a antique store"
if you are selling antiques might give buyers more confidence in what you are selling

But "I work at Joes Antique Store on Main Street, in Anytown will just bring people to your store to talk to you - or complain face to face if they are not happy with the widget they bought from you.

Don't make old People mad.

take much to set us off.

When you sell on eBay (or any other venue site), whether it is just to clear a few things out of the back bedroom, to make a little extra pocket money, or to build a successful, ongoing, online business, you are joining the world of sales and marketing. You are in business at least to some degree. How you operate in all related things will play a big part in your success.

Your eBay About Me page is one of the best things you can use to start promoting your business. And you should use if for that. If your approach to your business is to be a friend to each of your customers than you want to provide more information about you so your customers can feel they can get to know you. If you are operating as a more traditional business then you want your me page content to be more about what you offer and how your products and/or services will benefit the customer. Or you may be somewhere in between, making your me page the best of both worlds.

There is no universal right answer to this. There is only the right answer for YOUR approach to selling on eBay. I've never understood why but some people want to hide from their customers, which includes using a "posting ID" for the boards so people won't connect their comments here with their sales. I believe your board posts and your me page content should be an extension of who you are and how you conduct business.

If someone is being too rude, or otherwise unacceptable, on the boards to want people to connect them with their selling persona then perhaps they need to re-think their whole business strategy. More business can be generated from good behavior on the boards and great content in a me page than the opposite.

I can readily think of a dozen or more sellers whom I would purchase from at the drop of a hat because I feel comfortable knowing them from their posts and me page. Use these tools as they were designed and eBay becomes a powerful lead generation system.

Keep in mind, you never know when you will run into a nut case here or anywhere on the internet.

There should be no information posted anywhere that could lead some unknown person to be able to locate you.

It is advised that is is safest to use a Post Office Box for all business transaction and a cell phone is safer than a land line for contact info for Actual winning Bidders

[ I guess my first question is how much info do I want in my bio,>>
NO SCHOOL INFO .. NO JOB INFO PEOPLE CAN FIND U THERE. .. more about what you are doing collecting or selling wise. maybe a little about how you got started selling. and how you are going to try to have wrap things well and take good pictures.

I know not to give address, phone and real private stuff, but what about email >>>>you could always set up another email for ebay.. and list tit here so if theres a problem people could email you easily.

or less private info like schools, job etc. Also is there a place to add more pics in our bio area?>><<<<<<
you dont really need more pictures its not a friends site. if you want you can always add a link to a myspace page with more pictures but not to much info like dont tell exactly which school or work you go to.

good luck

Hi all, just my two pennies worth..

I would personally refrain from adding personal information other than your name and maybe a photo. It's unfortunate that any more information other than that may be used by unscrupulous individuals looking for ways to commit fraud against you. I don't want to scare anyone but why give the possible opportunity for potential unwanted probems to arrise. Enjoy the ebay experience but keep in mind that anything you place on the ebay site is vissible to EVERYONE. And not everyone is as honest as you or I.

To Your Success!

Hi Mandy,
I am VERY new to eBay (9103sandy) and kinda fumbling along the way however am trying to quickly learn as much as possible. Hope you and others won't mind these basic questions about me pages. 1) Is it true that it is a good to have a me page as a way for possible buyers to read and hopefully see I am credible? 2) Where or how do I set up a me page? 3) How do I insert a photo or logo on this page?

4) and I promise the last what is a tag or tags as I see at the bottom of this page?

In advance thank for any help you are willing to share and HAPPY eBAYING

Sandy

Hello, I`m mandy and I just started here at Ebay and am already set up as a seller, but I will always use this id for everything else I do here, that`s the first thing someone told me was to never use your selling id on the boards or chat. I guess my first question is how much info do I want in my bio, I know not to give address, phone and real private stuff, but what about email or less private info like schools, job etc. Also is there a place to add more pics in our bio area?
Thanks,
Mandy

Why would you not want to use your Seller ID on the boards, are you not going to be honest to the best of your ability. You have to obviously follow the rules because if you don't ebay will flag you with messages when you make a mistake on the forum, you could be tags as violating some policy etc. etc. etc. I have been flagged for using 3 letter words on the forum so I keep them off the forums.

You can't come here and make personal attacks against people, some folks will make one line comments like myself when there is no real response for a question or experience, everyone will try to answer your questions as best as they have experienced it themselves.

I'm not afraid to use my seller id here, I want people to know I have an opinion and I am willing to share it with you and anyone else asking for one.

1.) I have a ME page so I can talk about me and about what I like about eBay and what I expect from my buyers. It is good to express your seriousness when projecting your are interested in getting serious buyers for the products you sell.

2.) Creating an about me page Link

3.) Create an ebay my world and you can add the picture there. Link

4.) This link may or may not help about tags. Link

Lets see if this works as a tag, I don't know how ebay will respond to this.
