** Need HTML Code Help? Ask Here! **

Mar 30, 2005 11:21 AM

So you want HTML help with your page?

Show Us Your Code...

  1. Please don't post your code directly into this thread.
Instead, go to the HTML practice board -- Link
Type or copy/paste your code and/or text into the white box.

  2.

  3. Press the SEE HTML button.

  4.

  5. Wait for the page to refresh, then copy the new URL and post it back on this board.

  6.

An alternate practice board is Link

Tell Us What You Want

Please tell us what you don't like about your page, what you are trying to do or what needs fixing, along with any other information (like your favorite colors).

Posting Your New Page

After we have worked on your code, we will post a new URL back here. Go to that URL. Please feel free to copy the code in the white text box and use it. Save it to a notepad document, as things don't stay up on the practice board forever.

Please note that your feedback/items for sale cannot be seen on the practice board, but if the special tags are in your code, it will display on your ME page.

Also please note that any images/backgrounds that we add to your page will have to be saved to your computer, uploaded to your own photo host and the tag in the code changed to your image host, as images on the uploader are only good for 48 hours.

Go to revise your ME page, select "enter your own HTML code," delete everything that is there, copy/paste your new code into the box, preview and submit. Voilá!

Hi! This is a great idea for a board, because I, for one, could sure use some help!

I'm wondering if there is a way to only show your auctions, instead of all your current listings on your Me page. Now that I have a store, I've got over 75 listings up, and hope to have many more soon. That's just too much to show on my about Me page.

I already have a link to my store, so I'd just like to show my active auctions. How would I have to change the following html?

Link

Thanks!

Hi!

You're our first customer! I think you're right--your page isn't enhanced by showing all. How about just a link to all your auctions and feedback instead?

And how about a little makeover to your page? Check back here later. I'll work on it.

I actually would like to keep it pretty much the way it is, but just show my active auctions and the first ten feedback. I'll think about removing the feedback and just providing a link, but for now I'd like to keep them. Thanks!

If you look at link #2 in the first post, those are the special ME page tags. I don't see that there is any option to just display your auctions as opposed to all of your listings.

I know-- I looked at that. I thought that if you could show the ones you're bidding on by inserting "BIDS" into the code, then maybe there would be a way just to show your auctions (I actually tried inserting the word AUCTIONS, but that didn't work).

Oh well, maybe I'll work on just linking to them instead. Thanks anyway!

Zip: I LOVE it! I've already changed my Me page. It looks so much cleaner than the way I had it. Thank you so much!

I was trying to get the top part ("Welcome to White Pine Lane") just a little bit bigger, without making it go to two lines, because it seems like there's room to do that, but it didn't work.

I do love it, though. Thanks again!

Zippy does really nice work, doesn't she? If you need the title to go up a notch, you could always break it yourself, like this:

"You're our first customer!"

Not so fast my quoted friend - ahem ... over there.     B-)

Of course a battery of lawyers will have to hash it out whether a window ME browser of a design for possible later use - actually constitutes a customer or an almost customer.

Congratulations to you, et al, for getting a sound bite in the Access column - and as Fernando Lamas (aka Billy Crystal) would say about your "acceptance" speech in the other thread - mahhhhvelous.

Whoops, mea culpa. You did break in the board. So when are you going to put together a thread on embedded CSS for beginners?

Well ... I don't think that is going to happen, but I will do your ME page. :)

:O Delcove...Your Me page is 'back'! :)
Maeve never did get back to us with the "gurus" decision on "appropriate" CSS for eBay...maybe a tutorial thread would give 'em a nudge!
