What triggers a pending status?

OK I just joined and activated. I was impresed by how fast my ads appeared. I'm dazzled. I already have a few hits (clicks). If I change my landing page to "Items ending soonest" for example, will that trigger a "pending" staus? And if so, how long would that status last?
Friday is a pay day for many, and I don't want to "experiment" and go into a pending staus right now.
Also, if I change my daily budget will that trigger a pending status?
Does anyone know?

I edited it and it went down (pending) for an hour I think.

What triggers a pending status?

Only when I EDIT AN AD ITSELF does it go pending.
When I add a keyword it did NOT go pending
When I raise my daily limit it did NOT go pending.
