Hello everyone,

There have been several questions that you have said you wanted answered. We will attempt to clarify policy for this board for you one more time.

You do need to understand not this board nor is there any board on eBay that was established for Animal Rescue. The original purpose of this board was to discuss Animal Collectibles.

I think you all need to be reminded you do not know Maeve or me. You do not know if we have animals or not. You do not know where the animals came from if we have them. You also do not know what organizations we may work with outside of eBay. While I understand the feelings on this board common courtesy dictates that name calling and accusations are not appropriate and they will no longer be tolerated. If you wish to call names or speak in any manner that is not civil I would suggest you do it off of the eBay boards. We are not discussing the thread on the eBay Live board, it has nothing to do with this board.

We would like to give you a little history of the Animal Board. Some of you have been on the board long enough to remember all of this some have not.

When the board first was put up many started talking about their pets. I know some of you were around then. There were some disagreements but for the most the board got along pretty well. This went on for some time. Then one day it was decided on the board they wanted to start a fund that could be used to help members with Vet bills.

The board was told they had to do that either in a group or off of eBay. They were told it was not allowed on the board. The members formed a group and worked on their project there. This went on for awhile then there was a disagreement amongst the members. Some quit others stepped in and took the project over. During that time there were questions about the choices of members who received help. There was abuse with members requesting help when they did not need it and also members asking for help more than one time. There were many hurt feelings and some very nice members of the board left. This did not turn out as members planned.

People come to this board wanting homes for animals that they have found or that may have strayed into their yard. There have been animals people found in a shelter that their time was running out. One comes to my mind. A bunch got together to send this animal to one of the board members money was donated. This, by the way, was still against the rules. One person volunteered to go pick the animal up and transport was arranged to get it to the proper person. As most of you know that never happened. This also did not turn out as planned

Those things and many others were done with the best intentions. Some very good things were done. The things that stand out in my mind are the ones which failed. This is to be expected as we are the ones who get the emails from members who have been hurt one way or the other when things like this fail.

We understand the great need for Rescue and this board is not the place to do that. As so many of you have pointed out lives are at stake. To best serve that purpose it is essential to have professional assistance to oversee work that has such life-saving impact and therefore, it's important that those who wish to become involved with Rescue take an active part in one of the many websites on the internet hosted by agencies that work strictly with animals and are expert in their fields or in local Rescue organizations. They are always in need of help in many forms. In order to support this appropriately, rescue work should not be conducted on the eBay boards, but on those others where professional oversight is possible


A few things you might want to keep in mind.

1-You can not effectively diagnose an animal’s condition over the internet. If the animal has something wrong with it then it needs to go to the Vet .

2-You can not know a person or their intentions from the internet. As you all know, taking on the care of an animal is a big commitment, both in terms of time and money. You can not judge a persons’ ability to care for an animal without talking to them and going through other established steps that most recognized Rescue organizations use.

3-No matter how good your intentions are, or how many success stories you may have or believe you have, if the proper steps are not followed and follow-up is not provided to insure the animal has been placed in a safe secure loving home, you will not truly know the outcome.

4- People who come to this board looking for help with a problem are asking for help and advice. They do not need or want to be lectured on why they should not do what they see as the only way to keep an animal. They do need to kindly hear both the pros and cons of what they are thinking and be offered alternative suggestions.

5- If there are pictures of animals in traps or animals for sale on the site all listings now have a report button them. The best way to bring attention to them is to use the report button.

6- If there is a problem on this board use the report button. The Moderators will make the decision if the post is against board policy.


Here are the policies. I am sure you will notice some have been changed to make it easier for all involved to understand and to remove any questions about right or wrong.
One of the most important things to remember is looking for loopholes to get by the intended meaning of these rules will not work and any try at getting around the rules will be dealt with severely.

1-This board is not to be used as a rescue platform.
2-No funds will be collected, asked for or hinted at for any purpose on this board.
3-Posts cannot contain a request for money, a place to send money or a reason to donate.
4-You can't even say, please help this animal or it will be considered soliciting.
5-You can link to another website with a discreet link on your About Me page or an eBay Blog.
6-You can't ask for donations on either a me page or in a blog..
7-No posts will be permitted offering animals for placement either in a foster home or a forever home.
8-No pictures will be allowed of animals needing medical attention or the after effects of treatment

This policy will not be changed. We will not be answering email pertaining to this policy. Posts made that are personal attacks or against board policy will be removed. I will be asking the Moderators to grant a vacation to anyone who has three posts reported.
