Mari, all of my cats love fish. When I eat sardines (yes, I love fish too!) I sit on the deck with the dogs inside. Of course I share with my kitties. If the dogs were there nothing would be left!
I have always been a big supporter of fish. Of course now you have to worry about Mercury contamination. I just read an article today in my Drs. office about how the Omega-3 fatty acids can fight off depression, and help with brain and eye development while increasing the immune system.
I would suggest that you get some inexpensive, but farm raised fish from the supermarket. Maybe a catfish (no pun intended) or wild caught salmon, even LAKE (not Ocean, too salty) Perch. Brown it slightly in a dry pan, then add water to cover, sliced carrots with the skins, and maybe a slice or two of celery. If you have some peas in the freezer, put those in too. Boil it until the fish flakes off, then try that with him. He will probably love it.
Tell him it is your french specialty, so he should not expect it all the time! Use any leftovers over the cat food, just for flavor and to get him eating other foods as well.
