She is going to be in a single cell for 23 hours a day.

8 Wanted the DP.

????

8 men and 4 women on jury.

I'll bet juror #6  wanted DP.  Her voice rang out confidently on the first two verdicts; today, she sounded defeated.

Jurors #1 and the alternate I can never remember (younger male)--their voices were the opposite of #6.  They drew out their sibilant "s" sounds today, before, they didn't.  But everybody's voices sounded different, except for Juror #4 (older male).  And I thought I heard sorrow in most of their voices.

Had the choice been between death and LWOP, would the verdict have been different?  Moot point.

I read some really nasty comments on a "nice" board about the jurors, the basic gist of which was that they failed miserably at their job.  I don't think so. Their job was not to render justice for Travis, whatever that means.  Their job was to determine life or death based not only on the evidence and mitigation but also within the parameters of (IMHO) vague, ambiguous and somewhat conflicting jury instructions.

Holding the Alexanders, especially Steven, the jury, and everyone hurt by this monster named Jodi Arias close to my heart tonight.

As Grumpy Cat would say, good.

What makes La Diva qualified to teach either?  A year of high school Spanish (and maybe ASL) supplemented by jail study?  Given Arizona's demographics, I would think there are plenty of Chicanas more than willing to teach gringas such useful phrases as, "Where is Juan?  Juan is with Maria at the library."  The name "Arias" does not a Latina make.  X-(

As for ASL, spare me.  Or shoot me.  We used ASL in high school to secretly communicate.  Jodi would probably use it to incite a riot.  Jodi, sign "squirrel" for us.  Yeah, I thought so.

Not to change the subject but you may have seen where 80' of I-5 about 40 miles north of here went in the drink tonight just shortly after traffic hour (7pm-ish)!!  It appears so far that an oversized 18 wheeler hit the bridge and just kept on trucking!!  Only three cars were on the bridge both north and south bound and so far no reports of any deaths!!  The people were able to get out of their cars and stand on the roof as the Interstate hit the bottom of the river and the cars were on top of that!!  At that point the river is only about 4-6' max deep!!  Seattle City Light slowed one of the dams down to lower the water level and slow the current down as much as possible to aid in the rescue and recovery efforts!!

Now what freaked me out was, 80 feet of bridge just went south in a real hurry and people are standing on the rest of the bridge looking down at it!!  So sorry but I would have been no where near that dang bridge until they determined what made it go down in the first place!!  (They did not know at that time what had happened)!!  We were supposed to drive across that bridge this coming Sunday to go to our grandson's birthday party!!  I don't know how many times were have driven across that bridge in the last 3 months!!  YIKES!!  Reports were that is was functionally obsolete and that it was only rated at 57.5%!!  I'm sorry but If I'm gonna drive across a bridge, I'd like it to be at 80 or 90% if not 100% - thank you very much!!

So our major north/south commute has been majorly affected for probably at least 6 months to a year!!  There are 3 other ways to get there from here BUT one is way out of the way, and two are two lane highways or side streets so the congestion is going to be a nightmare!!  Lucky us!!  Thank God it was not anywhere near downtown Seattle!!  Scary thing up here is you basically have to cross bridges to get anywhere more than 10 miles away from home in any direction!!

And that is the continuing saga of summer in Seattle!!  LOL!!

I too worry about the whole family which is why I said a deal might be better then starting over with a new jury.

Patty, I agree.  A nice LWOP.  My ego prevents me from considering LWP.  I see Jodi's smug, snarky little face, I hear her saying, "See?  I agreed to plea to 2nd degree murder so all these horrible things wouldn't come out, and here we are with 25 years regardless. You could have avoided this.  See what you've done?"

Yesterday Dan Abrams suggested LWOP.  It sounded good to me.  But is a deal even possible at this point?  Who holds the cards?  Does Juan have any bargaining power?  Would Juan even deal?  Would the Alexanders want him to?

I found the following quote from my mother's favorite book, All the King's Men, by Robert Penn Warren:

“If something takes too long, something happens to you. You become all and only the thing you want and nothing else, for you have paid too much for it, too much in wanting and too much in waiting and too much in getting.”

Where would they find the people that haven't heard of her?

Ghana's probably our best bet.  Let's make it a protectorate or territory right quick. ?:|

Cathy was over today, she wants her hanged and would do it herself.

I agree to assist.  You know Rambo's position.  :^O  And 9k's beating a garbage can with a stick over in TN.  I think we can do this.

On that note, The Seven Psychopaths are going to sleep.  G'night, and sleep softly.  (((Patty)))

Oh, everybody is safe here now!!  Just the three cars crossing the bridge at the wrong time were not too safe for a while!!

You can probably google I-5 Skagit bridge collapse and see what I'm talking about!!  I just went and googled I-5 bridge collapse and it all came up!!  Still no reports of deaths and 3 people with minor injuries!!  Tons of reports from all the local TV stations here!!

I think it should be up to the Alexanders for a deal to be made.  They are most at risk.

LOL, Cathy and I had a bit heated debate about hanging her or pushing the button.  I couldn't do the actual deed.  She wants to.

We have talked about getting guns for protection but haven't yet.  Protecting yourself and loved ones, I might be able to do it.  That is if I had time to move cause I would be scared stiff.

There has been times when I've tried to scream but nothing came out!

“If something takes too long, something happens to you. You become all and only the thing you want and nothing else, for you have paid too much for it, too much in wanting and too much in waiting and too much in getting.”

That is very true and wise.....  I know I have read that book but can't remember even what it was about. X-(

This was very difficult for the jury and I did hear the Judge's voice crack when she was thanking them.  It seems most of the jurors were crying and at least one woman whispered she was sorry to the Alexanders.

Annie, if I had been on that other snarky board..... I wouldn't be posting today.:^O  And you all could be saying OMG she is a transplanted TH.

Re: {{{{{{{Roses}}}}}}}
May 24, 2013 10:50 AM

Briefly, because I'm at school trying to assure that a soccer game does not turn into a  mud-wrasslin' brawl:

Janey, even on Yahoo news, where one of the many Kardashians always takes top place, the Skagit Bridge was #1.  I cannot believe what I saw.  Unbelievable and nothing short of miraculous.  I hope one of the engineers--my engineers, not the district engineers--comes by today and tells me why this happened.  I read that 70,000 cars traverse that bridge daily, so, yeah, congestion and gridlock are going to be with you for a while.  :( Patchwork only works for so long.

As for the rubberneckers . . . where is a trap door into the frigid Skagit when you need one?? ]:)

Funi, when we were in harvest season, the air here smelled like pineapple upside down cake. :)  Please let me know what you think about Windows Live.  I've never figured it out and since I don't have a reason to figure it out (many other email options), I've just let it sit there.  Periodically it tells me that I have, like, 557 emails to send out.  Veddy interesting as I've never drafted anything on Windows Live.  It just seems to collect stuff from Word and other cyber-crud.

Beloved Pattycakes . . . despite my bluster, I couldn't pull the trigger or push the button or whatever on Jodi.  I just want her to go away.  I could always just close the computer, but now that I know about her, I cannot forget what I've seen and heard.  (It's embarrassing that when I type "j" on Google, Jodi Arias is the first thing that pops up.)  I'm addicted to this train wreck, this bridge collapse.  Open the trap door for me.

I've only watched tiny bits of HLN because that's all the computer brings up.  There was a HLN poll several days ago, "Would you sentence Jodi to death?"  From the comfort (???) of my living room, yes.  From hearing/seeing what jurors didn't see or weren't supposed to see, yes.  But I wasn't in the courtroom.  I wasn't on the jury.  So I answered "no" to the poll.  Only 13% answered no.

I saw Steven Alexander's head slowly rocking back and forth, his face contorted.  That has to stop.  How?

Don't be angry with yourself for not remembering  All the King's Men.  I'll write to you about it.  I can't remember my favorite book, Remains of the Day, so why do I still say it's my favorite novel?

TH . . . grrrrr, still haven't figured it out!!!!

Wishing everybody a peaceful day.

Oh funi, when you come to visit me you can bring a piece if that cake!  lol

Yeah, I tried that litter.  is there one I haven't tried?  Anything light will fly,  anything heavy will be a PITA when you walk on it.  There is no perfect litter.  The dust really gets to me,  the tracking gets on my last nerve.  I have a vacuum with a see through canister. Thats is see through for about 5 min's.

I guess Gone with the wind was my favorite book and movie.  I remember most all of that anyway.  LOL

i don't like it when I can't remember things or a word won't come to me even if I know it well. I don't beat myself up over it, just flusterating.

I've been cutting my hair for about a year.  I think a beauty shop is on my agenda today.

Funi, I sent you some email address I still have.  Some have been deleted.

Have a good weekend.

^^^^^^^NEWS FLASH^^^^^^^^^

They found the trucker who hit the bridge!!  He was out of Canada (this bridge is less than 60 miles from Canada)!!  He knew he had hit the bridge, he watch it go down in his rear view mirror and just kept on trucking!!  Nice guy!!  Anyway, no word yet on what the consequences will be but I will keep you posted!!  And yes, 70,000 cars do cross that bridge daily!!  Being on the coast, we depend on our major north/south thorough fares!!  We really don't have many westward roads!!  It's all north, south or east from here unless you are in a boat!!  LOL!!

Keep me posted on JA and I'll keep you posted on the bridge!!  LOL!!

I'm disappointed that the jury deadlocked.  Sorry for the A family that it still not over for them.

Juan does have the choice of going on or settleing going by what the A family wants to do.

I think they'll be able to find a jury.  Maricopa co is one of the largest in the country and we all know people who don't know much about the trial, right?  I heard they can have heard of it but if they can be unbiased that would be ok.

Annie, I agree with you about the jury.  They did their job.  Just because they were DP qualified that didn't mean they had to give her the DP.

Janey, Sheriff Joe has his hands on her now, he runs the county jail.  Once she's sentenced she'll go to the state prison.  Sounds like she will NOT like it there whether she gets LWOP or the DP.

Roses, that was a spine-chilling, powerful video.  No theatrics, just raw, brutal facts with a metronome ticking like a heartbeat or Time itself.

Public service announcements by necessity are short.  But if this video had an outlet--high school classes, court appearances for minor infractions, AZ groups like LaViolette's, wherever and whatever--I think it could really have an impact.
