Why does it seem like all ebay cares about is letting buyers say whatever they want to about sellers without giving sellers the chance defend themselves or to "face our accuser" so to speak.A buyer can give a seller a 1 or a 2 rating on something and we have no idea what the problem ever was.You have said that you don't want us to know who gave a low rating because of retribution...how fair is that? They can say anything they want whether its TRUE OR NOT but we can't say anything. We should be allowed to respond so that other buyers can make their own judgement. How about coming up with a way to leave buyers negative feedback ANONYMOUSLY..so we don't have to worry that if we said someone is a deadbeat and took 14 days to pay...they can't retaliate against us with 1's and 2's.
Why do you only care about protecting the buyers?

A buyer can give a seller a 1 or a 2 rating on something and we have no idea what the problem ever was.

...and if we don't know what we did that was perceived as wrong, how does it enhance future buying experiences? It's like waking up from a sucker punch.

I would love for the people to write something in that explains why their ratings are so low. Wouldn't that make more sense? To enhance buyer experience, sellers has to know why they got the low rating in the first place. eBay does it with their own Support staff surveys.. if you put a low rating, they ask that you write something/or more survey of what it was that you were not satisfied.

The entire Rating/DSR thing shouldn't be hurting Sellers like they do now... it should be that eBay uses the information, shows it to the buyers AND sellers, and let them determine if they want to do business with each other. If it gets out of hand, have eBay jump in and restrict access. As it is right now, only Sellers get hammered, and Buyers live happily ever after.
