Barbie/Ken Lot - Any ideas what I have here?

Entire Photobucket album:  http://s157.photobucket.com/albums/t43/Trolia/

I've been trying to find where it states how to post photos in here to no avail and after trying a number of methods for the past hour, I give up.  Tried adding pictures via "attachments" but even the small image said it's too large, so I gave the link to my entire (public) Photobucket album above.  Sorry!!

Will be listing for sale, a Barbie (or is she Midge?) and a Ken doll with some clothes and shoes.  I know absolutely nothing about these dolls, but wish to put them up for sale as a complete lot.

Can anybody tell me if this is a Barbie or Midge?  The markings first say Midge, then Barbie, so I'm a little confused because I've never heard of Midge.  LOL

Most of these clothes and hats appear to be handmade but I'm not certain.  If they were genuine Barbie or Ken clothes, would they all have a name tag?

If the shoes were genuine Barbie, would they be marked too?

As you can see, Barbie is suffering green marks on her face/head, from earrings I suspect.  I've found a link in ebay how to fix that, but I don't dare because I have rotten luck when it comes to things like that.  Naturally, that mark will effect her value - but how much?  Is she basically worthless this way?

I would think an avid collector might have fun receiving these dolls and fixing them to their splendour.

Any help is appreciated - Thank you!!

Hi DanCris,

If you can't get the attachment (paper clip) or Insert image functions to work for you, try using the HTML code.  Note that 600 pixels of your photo's width will show in a board post, so if your photos are wider you may need to resize them first.

- In Photobucket, copy the HTML code for your photo.

- In the eBay Post box, click the HTML icon.

(You may need to temporarily disable your pop-up blocker; most do this by holding down the Ctrl key while clicking the HTML icon.)

- Paste the HTML code in the Editor and click Update.

There's a thread on the Doll Board about posting photos on the boards:

http://forums.ebay.com/db1/topic/Dolls/Posting-Photos-On/5100021376?start=200#msg5100748277

This board doesn't get much traffic, but there are many knowledgeable Barbie collectors who hang out on the Doll Board, so you might post your question and photos there for help:

Your doll is a Swirl ponytail from 1964. Midge was Barbie's best friend, introduced in 1963. She used the same body as Barbie, so the bodies were marked Barbie/Midge. Yes, the green is bad and will devalue her significantly. But it doesn't make her worthless, as there are people who will buy and degreen dolls like this.

Almost all of the clothing is mommy-made or clone (made by manufacturers other than Mattel). But no, not all vintage Mattel clothing is tagged. Only one piece of each outfit was tagged. Vintage Mattel shoes will be marked Japan. on one shoe for open toes and both shoes for closed toes.

I think your idea of selling as a lot is good. You also might consider selling in two lots -- one Ken and his clothes and one Barbie and her clothes.

Thanks Kathiec, I appreciate your reply!  I never did figure out how to post photos on here no matter what method I tried, so just went ahead and put up one giant auction with everything at .01 cent with no reserve.  I sort of 'rescued' this Barbie from a heap at a garage sale, so am hoping to make what I paid at the very least.  Just couldn't bear to see her being mauled by little kids (the story is at the bottom of my auction).  LOL  Anyway, thanks for the tip, I'll change my auction title right away.
