Did the original Barbie red helenca swimsuit have a tag on it?
Jun 23, 2012 10:02 PM

Hi, I just now realized that there was a "Barbie" board!  Here I have been posting all my questions I have had lately on the Doll board (and believe me I have had a LOT of questions!!).  Anyway I have a red Barbie swimsuit up for auction and it ends tomorrow night and I received a question wondering if it had the Barbie "R" tag.  It does not have a tag at all yet all of the items that I purchased at this auction have been original.  I looked at some other red swimsuit auctions and I didn't see a tag mentioned in the few that I looked at.  Did this swimsuit originally have a tag?  Just so you know I am not a doll collector and until I purchased this lot of mainly Barbie items at a local auction I have had a crash course in this topic but it has been really fun learning about it so I know what to look for if I find any other Barbie items.  Tank You!

I'm not an expert but I do own a few of those red swimsuits.  None of mine are tagged.

None of mine are either.

It is a good idea to still post your doll questions on the doll board.  There is more traffic through there and many of those people  have lots of knowledge in regard to a variety of dolls, including Barbie.  I would say you could get some expert opinions there. Not meaning of course you won't get good answers here, but you may be blessed with more information.

In fact, if you check back on the doll board, you will find answers to your question.  Information that I did not know.  so, have a look:-D

There's nothing wrong with asking Barbie questions on the Doll Board, and never has been.  There's a group of very knowledgeable Barbie collectors who've contributed to the Doll Board for many years, and who are still there.  As far as I know, no one ever felt the need or asked to separate from that board.

My understanding is that when eBay closed down the chat boards, the folks who were on the Barbie chat asked for their own separate board, and so eBay created this board for them.  But by that time the chat group had formed their own group elsewhere, so for the most part they never embraced their new board here.  I don't think that's unusual or surprising, since if someone preferred to chat on a chat-style board, a threaded board like this one wouldn't be a good replacement.

I so often see people telling posters here to go to the Doll Board for help, and threads similar to this in which the person is apologetic they've been posting on the "wrong" board.

Just thinking out loud, but it makes me wonder if it would be better, more helpful, and less confusing for sellers who need Barbie help if there was just one Doll Board again?

Jen, I agree with you 100%.  I have explained this a couple of times to posters here, but it just can't be explained every time someone posts a question.  If it can be answered simply here, then fine.  But lots of times, i encourage to post Qs on the Doll board.  Ebay subtituted this for what used to be a chat type of board.  Those people all left, so I am wondering why even keep this here?  Another concern that I sometimes have, is that I hope folks on the Doll Board are not offended by some of us answering or helping people who do post their Q's here.

Shirley, I can't speak for everyone, but I can't imagine anyone I know on the DB being offended by that.

Also, if someone cross-board posts (asks the same question on both boards), it's not that it's offensive to anyone, but it just duplicates efforts and wastes people's time if the answer's already been given on one board but not yet on the other.

I'm thinking that we all would help sellers better with their Barbie ID questions if we go back to having one board, not two.
