Bear Artists & Crafters ~ Let's See Em!

It's too bad I can't see anybody's pics they are just squares with an 'X' thru them. I am so disappointed!

I am wanting to learn how to make bears!

I read your comment on the DB and had to go and see what was going on here. It's a quiet thread. Maybe the lady who made Sally will see it sometime.

Hello,
My name is Angel Sawyer. I make artist one-of-a-kind (OOAK) bears and friends. They are crocheted and/or needlefelted and range from 1/4" tall to 9" tall. Yes, many are smaller than a dime! I have something new every week.

As requested, here's a cute, jointed, felted bear and other felted items.
The bear and other animals are felted on an armature of fine jewelry wire.
They then become poseable. These are my first felted items.
Yes, I'm an artist and one of those creative types. This is new so I had to try it.
I made jointed teddy bears for collectors at a different point in my life.
Bears manage to work their way into a lot of my artwork as well, as I enjoy painting Children.

Here's a couple bears I put together yesterday and today. A long time teddy bear collector in the area is making kits. So I bought these two.
The blue 10" because I hadn't made a blue bear before. And the multi-colored one because it had so many possibilities. She had used a cotton patterned fabric on the body and arm and leg tops for the one she showed me. I chose the many colors of short mohair to go with the long pink of the lower arms, legs and head. And she needed her pearls!

Possibly OT ??

How should I sell old fur coats for crafting? My sister and I were discussing how many old fur coats we have - hers, mine, mom's, etc.. I don't want to list them just as coats, since they are getting old. They look great, but probably would not hold up long for wearing.. Becoming part of craft works is probably the best use for them.

We have several mink, one rabbit, and one that might be muskrat but looks a lot better than most muskrat I've seen.. Probably more coats, stoles, hats if we both go through our closets.

We're not expecting to get rich, but a little money beyond shipping costs would be nice.

Any suggestions on how to list them?

Many teddy bear artists will buy fur for bear making, but probably prefer to do it when they can feel and touch the fur - but based on what I know they look for, here are some suggestions.

Under Dolls and Bears category is a section Bear Making Supplies - that would be your best category.

Good photos showing the coat laid out and also up close - remove some of the lining and take photos of the wrong side of the fur.

Scrunch up a handful of the fur in various places - it should be soft and supple - if it is dry and brittle it will not hold up. Tug slightly on the fur as if pulling it apart to see if it rips or breaks apart. You will have to be the eyes for the buyer. Dry, brittle crackly furs are really not useable for bear making.

Hope that helps!

Thank you, Bethy56 -- I'd about given up on an answer!
Sounds like very useful advice. Increases the probablilty that those coats will get listed!
Thanks again!

I wanted to see pics too, its a shame everyone deletes their pictures. whats the point of this thread if you cant see anything :|
I have pics in my photobucket for four years now, i dont delete them, theres no point to, it doesnt take up space on your pc if you keep pics in photobucket, even if you delete pics from your computer it still stays stored in photobucket..so not sure why people delete photobucket pics.
