Right have hard head and soft body, no joints, red tongue and nose from some fabric. Thank you.

I have to say from the photos they both appear to be plush, not mohair - no clue on the manufacturer.

Burning test shows animal hair. I thought that plush is artificial fiber. Is possible i am wrong.

What manifacturer make rubber noses?

Hi araxna. I agree with Beth in that the fur does not appear to be mohair. Which bear did you do the burn test on?? The white teddy might be made from wool. Does his fur feel scratchy at all?? Wool will be a bit scratchy feeling.

Rubber nose sounds familiar but I am rusty on vintage plush and mohair. Bet Frodo or Beth will know something about makers of vintage teds with rubber noses.

They are both certianly cute!!

The molded noses were used from the 1960's through 1980's and later - the white bear might be wool - similar Chinese bears from the 1980's were made of wool.  Once you become more familiar with mohair you can often tell just by looking at it -

you thought they have glass eyes - what are you basing that on?  I find it difficult to tell plastic from glass at times.  What are the edges like on the eyes and how are they fastened?  I don't think those bears are old - 1980's would be my guess.

My experience concerning plastic eyes verses glass eyes is, ..plastic eyes have a sharp edge on the back edge of the eyes. They are usually attached in a different manner from glass eyes. Glass eyes are all smooth and don't have a sharp feeling edge. Most glass eyes will have a single metal loop on the back of them. Also, ... you can do the tooth test, ...if you dare. Some folks don't want 'old stuff' near their mouths :-D but glass feels & sounds different from plastic when tapped against a tooth.

You are right, i compare it with my mohair Steiff, it is long, wavy and softer than little one, it is more scratchy, definitely it is wool.

Eyes have round, smooth edges, attached with metal hoops and surface is smooth without scratches, only little crack. Is is impossible to scratch with nail.

I don't think they are very old too, but for me 80's is old enough. It is time of my childhood.
