What mean "you" paleface?

Seriously, as long as you place your true maximum bid prior to the auction end, you will win unless someone is willing to pay more.

Highest bid wins, not last bid.

When all else fails, read the instructions.

Highest bid still wins every auction, regardless of when the bid is placed

Isn't your computer electronic? Maybe you need one of them new electronic computers ;)

Granny on a dial-up connection places her max bid of $30.00 on the first day of the auction that had a starting bid of $0.99

Sue places her bid of $10.00 on the third day of the auction,

Shifty Sam uses his wizzbang "electronic sniping software" to place his $25.03 bid at 3 seconds before the auction ends.

Which bidder wins the auction?

Now I know why I've been losing sealed bid auctions. I'll make sure to give my sealed bid last next time.

O.K., I guess I can agree with everyone else but o.p. that the highest bids win not the last bid.

jmar5451......................You need to be more specific.

"soon you will never be able to win an auction"

If ANY bidder bids on a non reserve auction and is the high bidder then bidder wins.

I assume you mean that the "reactive" bidder that has not yet learned how eBay Proxy is set up might not win. eBay's proxy system has been here since day one.

You are operating under the assumption that the last bid ALWAYS wins. That is not true and never has been.

If you are a reactive bidder and waits to react to someone elses bid, then you will not win as many auctions. However, it is still not a third party sniping service that is doing you in.

For example, take a look at this auction that I recently lost. Which bids were manually sniped and which ones were placed by a third party service?????

ebay says it is allowing electonic sniping. There are currently 15 electtonic sniping programs. soon you will never be able to win an auction on ebay

Sniping programs have been around a while. I used auction sniper quite a bit a few years back.

Wow. You mean that NOBODY will EVER win an auction on eBay ever again?

read floyds post again. No matter what, the high bid always wins. An early bid for $55.00 will beat a snipe (even an electronic one) of $50.00 every single time.

> Maybe you need one of them new electronic computers
Me, too. I have a computer from the pre-Thomas Edison Era that runs via hamster wheel. :)

Crue, It is wise to have two hamsters just in case that first one gets tired at the most unreasonable time. I suggest to replace the tired hamster within the last 2 minutes if you plan on sniping. :)

I believe sue does if you think about it ...

Naysia, re-read it and think about it. Since when does a $10 bid beat a $30 maximum proxy bid? Granny wins because she bid the highest amount.

jmar,

If your theory is correct then I wonder why I only win about one in 5 if my electtonic sniping bids.
