The suspected gunman was identified by ABC News as Major Malik Nadal Hasan.

Another ABC report identified him as a convert to Islam.

I had to turn to MSNBC news to find the shooters name since lib Shepard Smith on FOX wouldn't give it out. He was talking to Kay Bailey Hutchinson who also wouldn't give out the name.

He was a 39-year-old Major. The other suspects have not been identified.

One report mentioned 4 SWAT team members wounded, allegedly in apprehending the other two.

Holy Cow! The son of the receptionist here at work was at Fort Hood this morning, but he thankfully flew out before this happened. She just said he called from Salt Lake City...

She is breathing a sigh of relief!

I don't understand that lady representative saying without any proof that it was a covert act because of his name, asking if the shooter was muslim.

It would seem even to be a security breech ... making it difficult for many others unrelated to the event without necessity.

The other two people in custody have been released.

Major Malik Nadal Hasan was born in Jordan, making the "convert" part of Muslim doubtful. He was a psychiatrist, promoted to Major in May, and recently transferred from Walter Reed. He was allegedly being deployed to Iraq, and didn't want to go.
