Stay off site...meaning don't list with them ....or take them off your current listings? I see that you use auctiva. How does the trojan horse get to our computers? thanks, eileen

What is being recommended is to stay off Auctiva temporarily - until they have isolated and removed the Virus that has been detected.

No. You don't need to change anything you currently have running.

How does it get to our computers? Well, I'm a bit lacking in the computer technology arena, so I won't even attempt that.

But what I DO know is that it appears the virus was created at some point yesterday/last night. HOW you get the virus is by logging into Auctiva to do your business. The link I provided above has much more insight as to exactly what clues indicate whether or not you've gotten the virus.

FOR ME: I'm just staying off of Auctiva (not creating new listings) until they've given us the ALL CLEAR.

Hi Community,

Update - We aren't quite finished getting all of our servers back into the rotation but we have enough going that the site is running at a nice pace once again. We expect to have all of these servers back in place at some point tonight and that the Auctiva website will be running smoothly through the weekend.

If you encounter any technical problems while working within your Auctiva account, please let us know by contacting our customer support team using the web form on the following page: Link

Same here about 10 minutes ago.

My new Spyware and Anti-Virus software (installed Wednesday) gave warning and then "cleared".

I'm waiting though and doing other things...

I just tried to look at a supersized image of another seller's item and got this message "Reported Attack Site! This web site at www.auctiva.com has been reported as an attack site and has been blocked based on your security preferences. Attack sites try to install programs that steal private information, use your computer to attack others, or damage your system. Some attack sites intentionally distribute harmful software, but many are compromised without the knowledge or permission of their owners." I tried to look at a supersized image of my own items and got the same message. I have not tried to go to auctiva today but it was working fine for me last night even though it was slow, there were no warnings or problems and I'm using firefox. Hope they get this fixed.

WARNING - THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN FIXED!

CRAP! I just spent the last two hours running my Nortons Virus Scan And protect. Just rebooted and it is totally screwed now!! Can't even open email program.

Since it appeared Auctiva was good to go, I went ahead and tried to log onto Auctiva about 2 hours ago. I immediately got a box that just said "WINDOWS INSTALLER". I clicked on CANCEL right away, but it took like 3 minutes to stop.

ALERT Flags started flying on my Security Software. I closed everything and immediately started my Virus Scan and Protect program.

Scanned about 140,000 files and DID DETECT 1 Virus, which it claimed to have fixed. My computer then rebooted.

Unfortunately, when I logged back on, my Security Software STILL says I have a MAJOR THREAT and need to scan.

I'm only on long enough to WARN ALL OF YOU - IF YOU HAVEN"T LOGGED INTO AUCTIVA - DON"T!

It's NOT fixed yet!

I'm out

Saturday 9:30 am pacific time. Auctiva is still messed up. What worries me right now is, potential buyers who click on the supersize picture link, will attract the virus to their system and I'll bet they will never return to my listings ever again. I do have at least 1 listing ending today and several tomorrow. Ouch.

Omg, nightmare, don't know what to do now, will have to end all my listings i think, can anyone tell me the best way to temporarily pause listings so people cannot get virus's from my listings, without me getting charged after ending listings? I just went onto auctiva at 6:15pm and got the virus message and have just found all this out. arrrrgggghh.

Holy Crap! I finally just now got all clear.

Auctiva is actively working this. I don't have a clue about the last two posts (others contracting virus by accessing our listings?) BUT, I don't think we should be panicking.

I mean, there is NO DOUBT - when I opened Auctiva it immediately infected my computer.

Norton has already published an announcement that they DO have an updated detection for Auctiva's Trojan Threat. So I had to do a "Live Update" to my Norton and then Scan again. This time it took. I have changed all my passwords.

BUT, I'm NOT going to stop my auctions! Unless somebody tells us we have to. I can't even imagine that!
