I'm on "Ignore" so it doesn't really matter how I handle the summmer slow down.

As Blue indicated, I handle the summer slow down just like the winter slow down, the spring slow down and the in-between-the-other-seasons slow down.  I ignore them all and pour the nightly cabernet.

Quite impossible to slow something down that wasn't moving to begin with.

Came home in a cabriolet;

Life is a Cabernet, old chum,

Come to the Cabernet!

1) Keep the booze in the freezer

2) Make extra ice

3) Think about quitting the book biz and starting a cabana boys and girls rental service

4) Cruise around the lake with the top down and cool off

Keep busy. There is  plenty of book selling work that probably doesn't get done in the busy times such as taking inventory (yuck).

Why would you be doing your taxes this time of year?

The answer to your question as to how best combat slower summer sales is simple and counterintuitive.

List more books than usual.

The more you list, the better your visibility will be thus increasing your chances of landing a buyer.

Successful dealers know that when business is slow, work harder.

Do not fall into the illogical thinking that because there are less buyers or fewer sales that there is no point in listing more books.

Also, try markdown manager to create sales. I find this helps stimulate the buyers watching items in your store.

In your case, you may try some different sales tactics such as grouping similiar titles into discounted lots.

Also, as I told you before, your title bars need some serios work. You need to work on keywords and utilizing every available character in the title bar.

Remove the punctuation and add relevant words that buyers will search and that draw interest. Remove first edition, that is a useless keyword(s) as this factor should already be addressed in item specifics.

I also noted that most of your shipping charges are really low, this is good, but I may suggest that you build that small amount into the price somehow and offer free shipping which will boost your search rankings.

Also, providing the the full bibliographic details on your books is essential. People who buy Franklin, Easton, Folio, etc, want this info. Trust me, providing the basic, simple, bibliographic details will increase your sales by volumes.

Especially with your prices being near the high end of retail you need to really focus on building in perceived value through your listings. To build this value, offer the full bibliographic details, a full condition statement, relevant and interesting information regarding the author or title. Tell people why they should buy your book and not one of the other 1,000 sellers offerings.

If you call a book rare or scarce, back that info up with pertinent sales records (current or past), or bibliographic citations when available.

Again, you have to strive to set yourself apart from 99% of other ebay sellers either by sales tactic and research or by lower price. Your choice really. Whether you realize it or not----the market share you are after selling Folio Society is extremely competitive and average, run of the mill listings are not going to get you where you want to be.

Anyway, let me know if you need help.

Folio Society collectors, and, I suspect, Easton Press in the U.S., are some of the pickiest and discerning folks out there. Here in the U.K. a Folio item must be just about perfect or they won't even look at it. Unless it is unique or very close to it, and priced like a mass market paperback.

For the OP, have you considered offering combined shipping on orders of two or more items? There are all kinds of way to do this, you just need to decide on a tactic and add a TOS. Just an idea, it works for me sometimes, gets people to shop in my Store.

Don't worry.

Be happy.

And

Try that cold beer.
