Hello Olive and welcome
I don't recall seeing you here before

Help me out here please, I don't understand why you have posted this thread with links to FAQs? It is my understanding space is limited on the board. Is this thread taking up any of that space or is it exempt?

If it is taking up space, then could you please delete it? Thank you

If you are trying to draw attention to the FAQs, then it makes more sense to enlarge the FAQ leters and position the FAQs under the Welcome sign instead of putting "Finding items on eBay!" first.

Thank you

Hi, Olive!

I appreciate your adding an actual book-related posting to the board - and I'm sure it will be helpful to newcomers especially.

Have a good day!

Where does it state I'm worried?

This is a stupid thread repeating information already here and that members frequently pass on to newbies as a matter of course to help them out.

If Olive is so concerned about members finding the FAQs why aren't they on top of the side bar in LARGE letters highlighted???

Terminology, Identifying, Dating and Grading Books...

Hello all,

I apologize for consolidating the FAQ threads from the side-bar and not giving you an advance explanation as to why I was doing so.

I am a member the Community Development team and we are updating the area to the right of each board, known as the "side-bar" across all boards to include fewer links while making them more consistent and shorter in length.

While it currently looks as if I am creating redundancy, you will soon see the number of links in the top portion of the side-bar reduced to six.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions, feel free to post them here or email me at olive@ebay.com.

Thanks,
Olive

None of the links to the right will be deleted? They will simply be relocated, right?

Will they be relocated to the top of this board?

If so, then they might be overlooked by many.

There are so many of those "tacked to the top" threads, that if someone wants to keep up with the new posts they will scroll down and ignore them just to find out what has been added since their last visit.

So, some of the important threads will go unnoticed just because of the habits of the viewers to want to find new info.

If there are too many threads tacked above Maeve's line, then, I think they will be missed.

Can't we keep all of the important threads in one place so they will not be overlooked.

Perhaps a re-vamping of the right sidebar would be in order.

Change some of the titles of the threads to better interpret what they have to say and add the FAQ indication to the original threads which actually had that indication in their title.

Why is it necessary to limit the sidebar to a certain number of threads and also to add other important threads to the top of the board over Maeve's line indicating old vs. new threads.

This is too confusing.

Hello skipper204,

You are correct, none of the links to the right will be deleted, they will indeed simply be relocated.

Hello parcey,

To address some of your concerns:
Will they be relocated to the top of this board?

Yes, while I want to be sensitive to how many threads are tacked to the top of this board, it is often where a member new to the bookseller board will look to find information.

Can't we keep all of the important threads in one place so they will not be overlooked.

This is the rationale behind tacking threads to the top of the board. In addition, there will be up to six threads highlighted in the side-bar that new booksellers visiting the board may find helpful as well.

Change some of the titles of the threads to better interpret what they have to say and add the FAQ indication to the original threads which actually had that indication in their title.
This is a great suggestion, in order to do this, I will need to create a new thread with the same information as we cannot edit a thread once it's been created. In doing so, I will have to un-tack this thread and let it fall to the end of the board, and start a new thread. Once I do, I will also lock the thread, so it will serve as a reference tool only.

Please let me know if there are any other concerns I should address.

Thanks,
Olive
