Where's The Party?

There was one, wasn't there? Someone promised me a party when I got my book published, but I can't remember who. Send me a map; I have a friend with GPS. LOL
Well, I just thought I'd stop in and stir things up. I'm off to the doctor, but I'll check in when I get back.
Sure was nice to see all the familiar names still posting.

Thanks, everyone! I was thrilled when I first got my proof copy, and then the work of re-editing really started. Now, it's done, and even though it isn't a best seller (was never meant to be), I'm happy with it.
Somebody let me know if you run across a party out there. I apparently missed mine, but hey! any party will do.

Thanks, blue*, I believe you've moved since last I spoke to you, so I'll have my friend warm up the GPS. LOL Hope all is going well for you.
Thanks, funfunds, and thanks for asking, but the book isn't available on eBay, yet, so I don't think I can say anything about it without getting this thread yanked. Sorry!

Congratulations Greta!
I believeyou can post the title of the book on eBay even if it isn't listed on eBay. However, I think the publisher has to give the okay to release the name of the book in public.

Thank you, poet whale.
The title is "Of Unicorns And Pegasuses."
The soft cover was released to the public June 11th.
I only see one listing, but there should be two,
one is large print.
I'll have to check which one is missing, and why...
Anyway, it is a dialogue-driven niche-genre novel with erotic and psycological content that is decidedly not to everyone's taste. Reader beware.

Good on you! Writing a book takes dedication, fearlessness and a bit of craziness.
Just like a good party!
Hope you sell millions and are the successor to Shades of Gray!

Thanks, greekdrama, and yes, the craziness, all of which I thoroughly enjoyed, and will delight in again if given the opportunity. Although, this book, Volume I, Book One: The Temptress and Book Two: The Witch, was a pet project and not meant to sell millions, and once I am able to conquer the formatting difficulties, will be a free download on Kindle. Volume Two (two additional books in one), which I have just started due to reader demand, will probably be my "money" book.
tapestries, if I understand you correctly, "I thought Pegasus was a one off" is techincally correct as far as ancient mythology is concerned. However, this book is modern and not about mythology, and as such, I did take liberties. The issue has been disputed and debated, and when it is all hashed out, it is my book, and as author, illustrator, editor, and publisher, mine to write as I deem imaginable within my own creative abilities. Personally, I liked "Pegasuses" for a plural for my purposes and used it in a modern fashion, as there truly is no plural of that to which there is only one in mythology.

The OED disagrees, and in fact notes three separate plurals, since sentences such as, "There's a constellation named Pegasus as well as an horse which sprang from Medusa, and neither of these ¹Pegasus / ²Pegasuses / ³Pegasi is a squirrel.

keziak, the "big six" are not readily receptive to unknown, first-time authors in this economy, and investment dollars are not encouraged toward unproven sales and readership. With just a bit of research, there can be found a monumental change in the traditional publishing world, along with the popularity of the less expensive ebooks and the freedom offered authors from deadlines and content restrictions, there is a notable shift toward the once-shunned indie authors.
Desktop publishing is proving to be a growing and recognized business for those with interest of having their works published with little or zero investment dollars, and the networking and word-of-mouth advertizing is proving to be as popular as print-on-demand formats for a multitude of very fine writers.
Amaz0n, Barnes & N0ble, and others in combination with such self-publishing enities as Create$pace, Lu!u, W0rdpress, and others are becoming the trendsetters of the indie authors, and offer considerable force to accomplish that which an unpublished writer desires most: to reach a reading public. In fact, stories abound in the wild of "big six" publishers seeking to sign indie authors once they have proven the worth in the self-publishing world.
I am a member of the indie author group, and proud of it. I self-published my book through Create$pace, and it is available there to the general public and on the parent company, Amaz0n dot com, and I am the sole source of signed copies, which makes me comfortable. With a bit of luck, I will be able to offer it soon as an ebook on Kindle, with designated free downloads. I am networked with other indie authors, and we all promote each other through various websites and blogs.
We're happy where we are.

fine.books, anyone is free to disagree with me (and the OED has never been observant to creativity, IMO). I acquired quite a headache arguing this point with others who had no idea to what they were speaking. In deed, one expressly tried to talk me into changing my Pegasuses to what they believed to be the more proper Pegasi. I made up my mind to not make this a headache issue: my book, my title, my decision, my preference. And now, copyrighted and published, it is a done deal and not open for debate.
