Bidder with too many strikes contact me. WWYD?

Nov 5, 2009 7:45 AM
I potential bidder (39 FB) asked me to remove my automatic blocks so they could bid on an item ($9.99). They claim that someone hijacked their account, and they are in the process of getting it rectified with eBay. Since I have the automatic blocks against bidders with UID in place, they can't bid.

I'm tempted to do it, since it is a low priced item, and I want a sale. However, I have the blocks in place for a reason.

What would you do?

It's just like going to vegas only take what you can afford to lose, and if you win its a bonus. So do it if you can afford to get burned and if you dont you sold $10. Personaly I would give it a shot over $10 but I'm very new to ebay so take it with a grain of sand :)

We stick to our policy, which is: We have the blocks in place for a reason. There is no going around them.

We send this email to folks who ask why they are blocked from purchasing our items:

Hello and thank you for your question! We're sorry to hear that you are having some issues with your eBay account; and that you have been unable to purchase our item because of that.

While we are unable to adjust our blocks, you can contact eBay directly to resolve any issues with your account that you may have. Simply click on 'Help' and then 'Contact Us' at the top of any eBay page. There you can enter either a question or issue, click 'Ask', and use one of several methods listed on the right side of the page to contact eBay.

We find that eBay is very helpful in correcting account issues. After any issues with your account have been corrected, you should be able to purchase our item with no trouble.

Thanks again! If you have any other questions, or need
anything else, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Great email Friendlyplush! I used it.

The nice person in me wants to be helpful, but my gut and business side says "NO WAY!". The email wasn't even written that well, so that kind of nailed the coffin shut.

Thanks!
