Here is the ebay info for opening an ebay store:
Link The conventional wisdom, which is not always correct, is that one should have about 100 minimum listings for a store to be worth it, but I disagree (I had a store until earlier this summer). IMHO it depends on what you're selling and what the market for it is.
If you don't have a lot of competition on ebay for your product, your store listings will appear when people do a search for it.
If you anticipate repeat customers, a store makes it easy for them to find you.
If you have a store you can easily send out newsletters to people who've signed up for that, which means you can give them product updates, info about markdowns, and anything else you want them to know about.
If you have a store you get to use markdown manager, which makes it very easy for you to run a sale.
If you were to have 36 different buy-it-now listings and it cost you $.35 each per month, your total cost/month would be $12.60. If you had a store your monthly fee would be $15.95, and you would also have to pay $.03/$.05/$.10 per listing per month, depending on the selling price. You'd need to calculate the difference in final value fees as well.
On the other hand, if you have a store you get the store referral credit (read about it in the stores info from the link above). I was able to work it so that in many months my store referral credit was higher than my monthly fee of $15.95, and that obviously reduced my expenses a lot.
Having an ebay store is a good way to get your feet wet if you think that at some time in the future you might want to have your own website to sell your stuff.
Good luck,
Sallie
