I have a question, how do chinese people sell stuff so cheap with free ship

Ok, they sell things for like 99 cents with free shipping, how do they do that? Is the shipping there extremely cheap. I can somewhat understand making some kind of profit selling only one thing for a dollar but dont they have to pay ebay and paypal fees as well as shipping fees, not to mention they have to have some kind of money in the item itself...

China is able to manufacture and ship items Very inexpensively. That's why most consumer goods are, at least in part, manufactured in China. They undervalue their currency.

i think $1 plus shipping is not possible. what kind of product is it? there must be some kinds of business strategy behind, e.g. lose this to win one another, or lose as a substitute to advertisement, etc...

The average Chinese worker that lives in a city and works in a primary industry earns about $116 a month. Workers in high tech and computer industries earn a whopping $550 a month on average. Recently China redefined the poverty level: less than $116 a year. That added over 25 million people to that economic class.

You know I have to take some of that back, I just received a E620 FOR DELL USB Optical Scrolling Scroll Wheel MOUSE from Hong Kong. I only paid $1.69 and another $1.49 for shipping, came in 5 freaking days and works great. I probably should have bought American, however when I am looking on e-bay I'm looking for the deals otherwise I might as well drive myself to the store down the street. American dude had same item but he was asking like $9.00 for mouse and also wanted 5 x more than the china man for shipping. I mean for that price I might as well go to the store and buy it in person and then it's from china anyway.....most of the time. So I guess it all depends on what your buying, and if it sounds too good to be true then it probably is. In the case of me buying fake 925 silver, well you get what you paid for I guess...... However seller acting like they didn't know and promising to investigate and then to keep on selling it as 925 silver is wrong.

925 (sterling) silver on listings from Asia almost always means silver plate and as long as you know that, you can decide if the item is worth the price. Same goes for most listings for gold items. Gold plate and not much of that. I do buy some of them for making items for resale but I use "silver plate" and "gold plate" in my descriptions. Electronic items will be poor fakes and probably won't work well. Designer labels and any western 'name' brands such as Gillette razor blades will be fakes. You really need to know going in what you are dealing with and make a purchase decision based on reality rather than what the listing says.

Actually the listing said it was solid 925, had it been plated then maybe not so bad but, this stuff was NOT even plated in 925. When I took it in to be tested the guy said it's not real before he even picked it up, I asked him to test it anyway and so he did and it was not even plated in 925 silver. Someone on e-bay saw my feedback and wrote back telling me how they bought a bunch from this seller, more than $500 dollars worth and was reselling at a decent price, and that recently got a bunch of complaints from people he sold it to. I wonder do they sell all fake 925 or just some, maybe half and half, I don't see how they can have such a good feedback score if selling fake silver, is everyone stupid?

Plated with something having some silver content is more like it.

ask your seller.....they will tell you the % of silver. Tibetan silver has a small amount of silver. I advertise mine as silver alloy....I never use the word Tibetan silver, yet a lot of sellers do. I try to differentiate my stuff from that of the crowd. I put the focus on the fact that my jewelry is made with turquoise beads that I imprint with wolves, dogs, horses, ferrets, chinchillas, south west icons, Christian symbols,Day of the Dead, or whatever the customer wants. Dare to dream, and then dare to begin.

Yes windchimeman, your work is unique, I have spent some time looking at your work. My father loves turquoise and has a passion for fishing. I am wondering if you have some kind of catalog or web site where I can look at different patterns or different pieces, such as african style etc. Could you please give me an estimate on how much different pieces cost and or if you are able to make one with a rainbow trout on the front and my fathers last name on the back of a nice piece of turquoise? Happy Easter everyone!!!!

I've wondered this myself. Sometimes late at night when I can't sleep I'll just randomly search through cheap listings and sometimes I do buy stuff from China. I have gotten some good deals, like a phone cover for less than a dollar total (that is still holding up fine after a month of use!), a package of beads for $0.13 with free shipping... which were actually nice, and a few other things... I can't possibly see how they make money selling that cheap! "Is this your last best chance? Or are you going to your grave with unlived lives in your veins?"

I'd still like to know the answer to this question. Not talking about something for a few dollars, but something that you win for several cents WITH free shipping. Surely the international shipping charge they are hit with has got to cost them more than this, much less the cost of the (usually inferior) product.

Today's rate, per x-rates.com: US$ 1.00 = 6.82749 CNY (Chinese Yuan) or 1 CNY = $ 0.146466 USD My understanding is that the Chinese have kept their exchange rate against Western currencies extremely low so that we'll keep buying their cheap stuff and that if they actually let their currency float at market rate the goods we buy from them would cost much more. This is an ongoing bone of contention between China and much of the world.
No matter where you go, there you are.
