I have some time on my hands this summer and a few bucks. I started frequenting live auctions to see how things work. I have no history with antiques (other typical auction items) and knowing how to value them but I do enjoy learning about it. My goal is to find items that sell low at live auctions to resell at a higher value online. I'm using auctionzip.com to preview live auction items and compare them to what is actually selling on ebay and for how much. Any tips on how I can do what I'm doing any better? Thanks
I absolutely agree. We rely on Terapeak and bought a netbook to tether to the android phone so we could research on the spot. Huge savings in items avoided and some really decent money from items that showed good potential selling prices.
We started after I bought a dozen throws (smallish, lightweight blankets) at BassPro on super duper discount for $7 and found out they were selling fairly well on eBay for $6. Luckily I have a large number of kids grandkids and all of them (kids and older grandkids) got a throw for Christmas that year.
Take your smart phone with you and check ebay sales history on the spot for items that interest you.
You may want to splurge for a terapeak subscription to be better informed on items that do not show up as often on ebay.
Once I started using my web phone at auctions I increased my profit margins on items considerably. And no more bidding, them finding out item was not desired anymore.
Markets really change fast these days!
