eBay stuck on stupid, buyers stuck with "pay all sellers"

Oct 29, 2009 10:39 AM
I don't keep much in my paypal account or the bank account linked to it. I make deposits as necessary and use echecks. Sometimes I will make a deposit but before initiating a payment I'll find another item. To simplify, say I've purchased items from two sellers, and make a deposit to cover the purchases. Then, as I'm preparing to initiate the payment I notice an item I'm watching is close to ending. I bid and win. Now I have items from three sellers but only have sufficient funds for two. I start the payment process for the first seller and have to click "pay one seller at a time". I complete the process. I start the payment process for the second seller and again have to click "pay one seller at a time".

Why does eBay keep making decisions for buyers? WE should have the right to make decisions like this. If you want the default to be "pay all sellers, fine. If you want the default to be "pay one seller at a time" as I do, fine. The point is, LET THE BUYER MAKE THIS CHOICE!

Ebay cant win, theyre trying to make things easier for people but they're still not happy.

Just click on each individual item as youre ready to pay and use the Pay Now button there.

If they listened to the opinions of users and made changes based on these opinions then I'd say they're making things better. They're doing the opposite. As for paying via the listing page, it's not always possible. I used to do it that way until I started seeing "payment received on whatever date" at the top of multi-item listings.

I honestly don't get this complaint. Just pay one at a time. If you don't want to pay all sellers at one time,,no biggie.

There are THOUSANDS of people still out of work and here comes another holiday season, with no money, no home of their own, etc . And you're problem is that you have to click a couple more buttons to pay for 3 items you are fortunate to have the money to buy? I just don't get it. :_|

The point is when I have purchases from multiple sellers I have to click on "pay one seller at a time" for each seller. It's another case of unnecessarily repetitive clicks. A simple user option to set the default would make things much easier.

Again, i see your point, but can't imagine this being anything remotely resembling a "problem" now adays,,but that being said..I thought you can set the default for how you want to pay. "one seller at a time" or all at once.

I just reread your intitial comment again, and it seems you're making it a problem for yourself. If you know you only have xx amount of funds,,why not pay for what you already won, instead of buying more,,IF its such a problem for you?

Tek,,,i checked into it over the weekend, and you can actually "uncheck" any of the items you DON'T want to pay for all at once. Then you can just pay for the ones you have enough money for together,,without doing them individually. I'm suprised that you hadn't discovered this since you aren't a new member. Unless, of course,,your browser is keeping the feature from appearing for some reason.

LOL honestly if it wasn't for the high subtotal at the end of the invoice I would forget to uncheck them . It gets me everytime.

I don't know why I never saw the check marks. You're right. Un-check the boxes, update the total, and pay. Thanks for the tip.
