Community Upgrades
Jun 25, 2012 03:57 PM

Beginning on Wednesday June 27th at approximately 4:00 PM PDT we'll be rolling out some changes to the community. Among these changes will be a new "Ask A Question" Flow for the Answer Center, designed to help members find existing questions and answers more easily.  Additional changes include updates to the Spell Check feature and the Report a post flow.

The Community should remain accessible during these upgrades, but users may experience periods of slowness or intermittent accessibility.

After the enhancement roll out, please respond to this thread to communicate any questions or issues.

Thank you for your continued support of the eBay Community.

All I see is the two drop downs, one next to the font size and one next to the Font family. Font size is located just to the left of the ABC thing but, I don't think you could confuse it with anything other than font size adjustment so, you evidently have a an extra drop down?

FireFox or IE?

I'm on Firefox, and this is what I see:

The dropdown you show on the right side of ABC is definitely not there on mine.

Firefox here too.

I just checked IE, and it's not there for me on that browser:

Good heavens, I'd forgotten how blindingly white these pages are.  Thank goodness for the Color That App site.

Oh, nice.  I don't have a post button on IE.  If I mouse around down there, I get a thin blue band that I'm assuming is going to let me post when I click it.

I have (in IE9) the ABC button and to its immediate right is a drop-down arrow that does nothing more than the same as clicking the ABC button.  In fact the button and the arrow highlight together when I mouse over.  No point in a drop down list if nothing is in the list.

Now lets check

ebay

**top suggestion is embay

transitive verb

to shelter or confine (a vessel) in a bay to shut in; enclose or surround, as in a bay

Use in a sentence: eBay wants to embay us from the outside world.

spell checker

**suggestion is speechmaker

becasue still accepted as correct

thier still accepted as correct

Sheesh

**suggested sheens

snotty accepted as correct

Now, using iespell instead (right click if downloaded and installed) and it recognizes ebay/eBay hasn't a clue as to what embay is, desires to split in two or hyphenate spellchecker and download.

It also lets me change all occurances of a misspelled word or add it to my personal dictionary whether correct or not.

If the captive program that embay employs on the site cannot do at least the above actions then what point is there of even having it as an options and using up bandwidth.

transitive verb

  1. to shelter or confine (a vessel) in a bay
  2. to shut in; enclose or surround, as in a bay

Here we are, just an hour and a half from this thread being unlocked for two whole business days, and not a word from the guides.  I'm starting to think we're never going to hear from them.

Oh, and I just noticed the drop down arrow next to the ABC button has disappeared.

Hi {{{Lucky}}} :-x

I have the arrow next to the ABC. It isn't like a drop down though, there is no seperation between the main button abd the arrow. It's more like the icon being used for spell check has an arrow on it, if that makes sense. :)

Don't get me started on pink slaps.

Hi, {{{{{Tony}}}}}  :-x

Burns is having the same problem.  The attachment is on the post, but the picture doesn't show up.

My ABC button looked like yours yesterday, but today it looks like this:

Community Guide -

Thank you for giving us back the option to say why we are reporting a post.

But why does it have to be in a drop down menu.

They are the same options that were there before, but now we have to go through two steps instead of one.  How stupid is that?

To Streamline - means to make smoother, easier to operate.  Flows easily.

Obviously not something ebay cares understands or strives toward.

But thank you again for giving us back the reason we are reporting a post.

Lucky, it seems I remember you mentioning somewhere on this board, that program that adjusts the background colors on the discussion boards.

Could you or anyone who knows, please point me to that add on?

Why do I get this, when I simply change my background colors within Firefox. It renders the boards unusable:

Plant, the app I use is called Color That Site.

So I guess it's safe to assume the guides aren't coming back.  They haven't posted here, they asked for more information on Salez's thread about spell check, it was given to them, and they didn't post again, and they have not responded to my thread about an issue with the board message system or Tony's about moderation.  They sure didn't last long.  LOL!

Thanks, Lucky.

No idea what's up with these people. Sometimes I think they are just good people shoved into a bad position and sometimes I think they are just as tetched/nasty as TPTB.

I have no idea what they are doing out there on the boards, WW. I had some of the most docile posts ever, yanked.

It's like, "Plant, you shut up and don't say anything."

As I've said before, there is no consistent message that they are sending to posters, I mean WT* are we supposed to get from having random posts pulled?

They are the same options that were there before, but now we have to go through two steps instead of one.  How stupid is that?

Compare to the now three steps to answer an android phone with the newest updated os.  I've hung up on mire people trying to answer the call in the last couple days. Talk about a pain in the you know what.  And I had a flashlight app I had moved to the home page so I could use it more often and the new tap to unlock instead of slide and the flashlight app turned on all by itself with phone in my pocket.  Sort of yin/yang. Too difficlut to accidentally make a call but  too easy to open up everything else.

Back to our regularly scheduled now 10 days *or is it more) into the update and no additional responses from CG.
