How did I get this funky think in MS Word?

I must have hit something inadvertently, and now whenever I open a new document, there's a second panel on the left that shows a tiny image of my document. I'd like to know what it is and how to get rid of it. Thanks.

Looks like you turned on "preview" or "thumbnails", click on "View" and look for whatever its called in that version of office and remove the check mark turning it off.
