problem with easycap DC60

Jan 25, 2008 4:34 AM
I bought Easycap a couple of weeks ago (Hong Kong seller), installed it (and Ulead 10) without any trouble (Win XP). Connected up my old camcorder, picture came through fine, but no audio. Tried everything I could think of to get it to work, but not a peep. Came across this discussion and was expecting to have to write it off. But... I kept trying, going round and round all the settings, reinstalling, etc etc, and eventually it crackled into life. I don't know what I did, in fact I don't think it was anything I did, I think it just decided to start working, maybe it needed some time to warm up or just a bit of use. Now it's fine, I have already digitised several hours of old tape without any trouble, picture and sound both fine. It's a bit crackly for the first few minutes after plugging it in, but then seems to settle down, so I don't start serious recording right away. Sorry I don't have a great technical solution to write about, but I thought I would post this anyway to encourage people to keep trying.

problem with easycap DC60

Jan 25, 2008 5:07 AM
Bought one of these last summer. Installed the drivers, run perfectly on my XP USB2.0 system. Great results.

I avoided the included software on the CD and instead opted for free (better) software - I tend to mainly use VirtualDub.

I have just bought and installed my 2nd easycap, so that's one for home and one for work. No problems anywhere, awesome little devices.

problem with easycap DC60

Feb 3, 2008 3:41 AM
I have shown that my EasyCAP DC60 will not work with either my Acer5103 laptop (with Vista)
or my AMD1600 pc (with WinXP) if the driver displayed by the Device Manager in Image
Devices is STK1150. The instructions supplied with the DC60 are incorrect you need the DC60
connected so that windows knows what the device name is.
To get it to capture movies with Ulead Video Studio SE DVD v10 the driver in Image Devices
needs to be Syntek STK1160 not STK1150.
In order to get STK1160 driver installed in both computers I put the following files in a folder
called SyntekSTK1160
----------------
C:\Windows\Stk1150.exe
* C:\Windows\StkATVAp.exe
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ks.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\StkACamd.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\StkAMini.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\StkAPin.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\StkAPipe.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\StkASam.sys
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\StkScan.sys
* C:\Windows\System32\dshowext.ax
* C:\Windows\System32\iyuv_32.dll
* C:\Windows\System32\ksproxy.ax
* C:\Windows\System32\kstvtune.ax
* C:\Windows\System32\ksuser.dll
* C:\Windows\System32\kswdmcap.ax
* C:\Windows\System32\ksxbar.ax
* C:\Windows\System32\msh263.drv
* C:\Windows\System32\msyuv.dll
C:\Windows\System32\StkAProp.ax
C:\Windows\System32\StkASSrv.dll
C:\Windows\System32\StkASv2K.exe
C:\Windows\System32\StkAVFW.dll
C:\Windows\System32\StkAWIA.dll
* C:\Windows\System32\tsbyuv.dll
* C:\Windows\System32\vfwwdm32.dll
* C:\Windows\System32\vidcap.ax
C:\Windows\twain_32\STK1150\StkATW.ds
The ones marked with an * had a ticked window icon.
Also
C:\Windows\inf\dshowext.inf
C:\Windows\inf\dshowext.PNF
C:\Windows\inf\INFCACHE.1
C:\Windows\inf\ks.inf
C:\Windows\inf\ks.PNF
C:\Windows\inf\kscaptur.inf
C:\Windows\inf\kscaptur.PNF
C:\Windows\inf\ksfilter.inf
C:\Windows\inf\ksfilter.PNF
C:\Windows\inf\oem7.inf
C:\Windows\inf\oem7.PNF
C:\Windows\System32\StkASv98.exe
C:\Windows\System32\StkAUSD.dll
----------------
The files above can be downloaded from:
Link
With the DC60 connected I updated the drivers from STK1150 to STK1160.
Instead of Syntek STK1150 you may have a device called USB2.0 Capture Device with a yellow
mark on its icon. In this case update the drivers for this device.
I have noticed a problem with the Audio lagging the Video so when I get the time I will try some
different capture applications.
The drivers obtained from website:
Link
were the same as those on the EasyCAP CD v.2.1c.
What need from you is a link to a web-site so that I can download/install drivers and make
Image Device a Syntek STK1160. I will then change my feedback on eBay.

ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!! Oh Geez, I'm out of control!!! I've got tears running down my face!

secondgen, PLEASE don't think I'm laughing at you or your situation......Lord knows this thread is full of people in the same situation (fortunately I've missed THIS problem).

It's just that I'm freaking out on another thread and for some reason your last sentence put me over the edge! LMAO!! I'm sooooooo sorry but this struck me so funny!!

Chinese holiday, eh? They stop working during a holiday? They are joking just as much as the Belkin, Linksys and Cox technicians I just got threw talking with. Of course I still have my problem and probably will for the rest of my life!!

So please don't feel alone......for what it's worth, things just aren't going smooth for lots of folks on this board! :)

Wll, secondgen, I guess there IS a holiday going on:

Link

I, personally, never heard of it but then again, why would I?? LOL! What has me sorta concerned is all the Asian auctions running that won't ship until after the 15th. I wonder if all the sellers have notified their buyers they are par-taying in the streets and can't hit the post office for another 10 days?

"Buy American".......now THERE'S a happy thought! I'm so tired of walking through stores, picking up expensive clothes and seeing "Made in Taiwan" on the tag. Doesn't anybody sew in the States anymore???

You do know we're doing ourselves in, right? And I have to say that I thought of your sentence again last night - in bed - and roared again!! LOL! With the day I put in yesterday (am paying for it today with a migraine) that sentence was like a gift from Heaven!

I do hope you get your purchase straightened out. I know you've been with eBay a while so I don't even have to start telling you who to avoid next time you want to buy electronics. This category is one of the biggest problems eBay has - and they DO seem to have a lot more problems lately!

Have a great day! :)

problem with easycap DC60

Feb 8, 2008 2:14 AM
EasyCAP DC60 capture with a VCR and using Ulead VideoStudio 10 software.

01. Open Ulead Video Studio and select Editor, click on Capture tab and then on CaptureVideo.
02. Select source Syntek STK1160, if this is not there you will need to install STK1160 drivers.
03. Set Format to DVD and set the Capture Folder to one of your choice. Make sure you have
enough free disc space. DVD capture requires 46 MB/min (at 6,000 kbps).
04. Click Options then Input Source, set TV System to what you need e.g. PAL, then click OK.
05. Click Options then MPEG Settings, select Deinterlace Output and set the Aspect Ratio to
what you require.
06. Set the Audio Bit Rate to 224 and the Video Bit Rate Value to 6000 kbps (constant).
UVS will remember your settings for the next time you use it.
07. Do not have any other application running while capturing.
08. Click Capture Video and a dialog box will appear. Start VCR playing and when at point at which
you wish to start recording click OK. You should see the preview picture but there will be no
sound, this is normal. If there is no picture check the cables are correct and VCR is set to AV.
09. Click Stop Capture at the point you wish to stop and stop VCR playing.
10. Had problems with UVS Edit so if you can Edit read the Help file otherwise find another video
editor to improve your captured video.
Conclusions
01. In order to get the EasyCAP DC60 to capture it needs Syntek STK1160 drivers (not STK1150).
02. The minimum system requirements must be specified clearly by the seller to avoid lot's of
dissapointed customers. The capture quality will depend on the speed of your system. The
quality was acceptable with an AMD TL-52 64x2 CPU (2 x 1.6 Ghz) + 1MB Ram
(Acer5103 Vista laptop) but it was not acceptable with an AMD Athlon XP 1600 1.40 Ghz
+ 512MB Ram (PC WinXP), the picture was "jerky".

problem with easycap DC60

Feb 15, 2008 11:54 PM
Hello all. Let me preface this with the fact that I have a Vista based Laptop and XP based PC.

I bought one of these and received it a few weeks ago. When I initially bought it, I had no problems with it at all with Ulead 10 on the only time I used it with the provided software. Then I put it away for a while because the videos I wanted to make into movies I had not recorded yet. I record them and come home to use my EasyC(r)ap. Didn't work. So I troubleshoot and troubleshoot... No avail. I tried DL Ulead 11, as it is supposedly compatable with Vista. Wrong, it sucked worse than 10.

So I search and search and I found AmCap. I dl a trial version (which operates fine for the purpose I wanted) and it works like a champ. I don't think that the Ulead program is compatible or something, but now it's working fine with AmCap. I've made a few movies from the old 8mm camera I have, there was one or two times it lagged, but when playing it back it plays perfectly.

problem with easycap DC60

Feb 22, 2008 6:44 AM
Hi.
I'm new to Video capturing. I have a laptop (winXp), and wanted to be able to capture with minimal cost.
Bought this little device (not on E-bay). Package says it is "Model No:EasyCAP01".
Put in the CD, installed drivers (STK1150), plugged it in, installed software (ULead).
Tried to access through windows "capture device" feature. All I got was a black screen. Fiddled with it a little. No improvement. Searched internet, found this thread, thought I just wasted that money.

But then I stumbled upon the controls. (contol panel->Scanners and cameras->Syntek STK1150(right click)

The most important seems to be the "Crossbar Property". Before switching it a couple of times no data was getting through. After switching it to "Video SVideo In" and back to "Video Composite In" a couple of times, I think it sorted things out.

Then I had to switch from "PAL" to "NTSC" a couple of times, and finally, I could actually see the input stream.

Bottom line: Now it's working! Even in the uLead supplied with the thing (version 10).
I didn't have the chance to do actual work yet, only experiment, so I can't talk about quality yet.
But at least I haven't chucked it away!

Hope this helps some of you...
