Food Photos From Your Travels...

I'm wondering if anyone has food-related photos to share from their vacations, travels(foreign and domestic travel). I met some people at the airport recently who were headed to Italy on a food & wine vacation. I asked them to take some photos and share them on Cook's Nook someday.
Here's a few from my travels in Mexico:

One of the strolling vendors in Acapulco, selling bolillos(basic French bread rolls), fresh from nearby wood-fired bakery. He had loud, beautiful baritone voice, chanting "Boliiiiillos!"

This was the view from a sidewalk cafe, near my cheap hotel in Acapulco.
A travel agent in the US told me I would not find a hotel for under $100. I found a dozen hotels in the $10 range, 2 blocks from the waterfront.

Yes, photos from new Orleans food finds, cafes would be great to see.
I was hoping more peop,e might respond with some photos. Many people who are foodies, chefs, great home chefs, have also traveled and seems everyone has a camera with them(iPhone, digital camera, film camera, etc.). Maybe someone will at least post a photo of the excellent buffet on their last cruise?

Hi,
I hope everyone has had nice holiday time with good foods and cheer.
Here's another food photo. I shot this in a movie studio in Mexico City. (not a commercial photo, I just happened to have a great light table set-up available to me)
There was a fruit cart outside, so during lunch time I went out to buy some. I do;t know what variety of grapefruit this is, but the indentation on the top are natural. It was a deep purple color inside and super sweet.
The "hand" of bananas are called "chiquitas" which means "little ones" in Spanish. I imagine the brand name came from this variety.
Hoping to see other photos from the many Cooks Nook foodies who also travel in their spare time or for business.

The title to your post brought back fond memories of a former co-worker named Jim. That man was a cooking machine. He lived & breathed cooking. His job as a paralegal was just to support his habit. He also loved garlic (unfortunately for us). One year he and his wife planned a European vacation. We looked forward to seeing his pictures of all the lovely spots he visited. Imagine our surprise when EVERY picture was of food.
He would have LOVED this thread.

Food... it really can define a place and serve as an indelible memory of a time, place and those the food was shared with.
I haven't found it yet, but I have a photo I took about 20 years ago at an open-air cafe in Mexico City's Zona Rosa district. The photo is a cappuccino, a croissant, my passport and my freshly printed business card... for seeking work on movie crews there. The reason the photo means a lot to me, is that exactly 90 minutes after that I found a job on a movie that lasted 58 days without a break. A great life experience, and defied the odds, as most people had told me that I would never be able to find work, as a foreigner in such a big city in such a competitive industry.
I'll return to that same cafe someday and spin my fortune cookie(I mean croissant) again!

Yes, Gagnon, I'd like to see some of his food photos. I keep hearing of people taking food vacations. One friend who went to France last month said he needed to park his diet at the entrance to Paris, as well his ethics, as he wanted to eat pate de foie gras. Last year some friends went to a wine region in Italy and spent a day harvesting grapes. They didn't need the money, just the life experience, and it put them in touch more with the domestic & imported wines they enjoy back in the states.
By the way, if you friend loves garlic, he'll enjoy the SF restaurant called The Stinking Rose, and the documentary film Garlic Is As Good As Ten Mothers(director Les Blank). That film is about the garlic festival in Gilroy, CA.

Great story, hwycinema! Find it, enlarge it to cover the entire wall, and then invite the naysayers over for a croissant in hopes they'll ask, "So what's w/ the wall?"

Oops! Forgot to mention my co-worker Jim!
I wish I could tell him about The Stinking Rose (love the name!) He passed away due to all the health-related issues from overeating. :/
