This is a spinoff thread from noahiam's. At the end of hers she asked the question. It got kinda buried, so... Of course chilli is a favorite of ours too. I like mine with LOTS of cheddar cheese on top. Mine's ground beef and red beans, with just a little kick. I'm a wimp remember? Another thing I make only when it's cool is sweet spiced pecans. I don't know why I make them only in the fall/winter. I guess its the spices and the fact that they make wonderful party food. Easy to transport and even though they are easy squeeezy lemon pleasy to make, folks are VERY impressed!
It's OK to be crazy, just don't let it drive ya nuts!

I have ham chunks and green split peas in the crock pot.
Now that sounds stick-to-your-ribs yummy!
Excellent for c-c-c-cold weather. It was. I'm making a meatloaf and salad for supper tonight. I make ours alittle spicy.

We love to eat a bowl of hot chili or stew. My DH likes his spicey hot big time with jalepenos - the kids and I can't eat that hot stuff though so he ads it on seperately. If someone is feeling bad, I like to make a big pot of homemade chicken soup. I boil the chicken till the meat falls off, then I add carrots, celery, onions, chives, and some spices. -Jen

We're having a beef roast tonight. It's in the oven cooking really slow right now and smells wonderful.

Leftovers for us. We had hamloaf yesterday and some potatoes. Cracker Barrel Potatoes I 32 oz. bag of shredded hash browns 1 cup milk 1/2 cup beef broth dash of garlic powder, salt and pepper to taste. 2 T. melted butter. 2 cups of colby cheese or any cheese you prefer. Mix hash browns, milk, and broth in a bowl with 1 T. of melted butter. Melt the remaining 1 T. of butter in a skillet. Add the potato mixture, seasonings, and cook until the potatoes are lightly browned and warm. Transfer to a greased baking dish and mix in the cheese. Cover with foil and bake 30 - 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Uncover and turn up the heat to 400 degrees until the top is crisp. You can always adjust the cooking time depending on how you like your potatoes. We like the top crunchy. I always add just a bit more cheese too.

I tried this new recipe last night. It is easy and tasty. It cheap to fix also. Bacon Cheeseburger Roll Ups 1 lb. ground beef 4 slices of bacon finely chopped 1/2 C. chopped onion 8 oz. velvetta cheese 1 can of biscuits. salt and pepper to taste (or any seasoning you like) Brown hamburger, bacon, onion. Drain and add velvetta cheese to mixture until melted. Between wax paper flatten the biscuits into 5 inch circles or larger if you can. Scoop the hamburger mixture into the center of the biscuit and roll up, pinch the sides and ends to seal. Place on a greased cookie sheet seam side down. Bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes or until golden brown.

N.D. that sounds good. I pulled a container of chili out of the freezer this morning, made cornbread and salad with avacado chunks in it. The Hubby bought a couple of them on sale and they needed used. It was good.

Something I miss is potatoe soup. Anyone have a good recipe for that? You know, the creamy type. When my Mom made it we always sprinkled celery seed on top. It had celery and onions in it though.

Well, it's that time again. We're getting alittle coolish weather, and I'm lovin it! Time for a good pot of chili & home-made cornbread. Yum! And don't forget the salad.

Sounds Yummy, I'll be right over. ha. I like home made soup with a thick slice of home done brad with a tad bit real butter, so comforting...to eat sure, but while it all is baking & cooking the home feels like that - home.

I made a pot of chili, for tonight's supper. The Hubby is down the road, helping a neighbor, so I couldn't wait. I had a bowl. Not too bad. At least I won't have to make him something to eat, when he gets home.

We're getting ready for more chili, baking stuff, etc. This year we got alot of butternut squash. Boy are they good. Got alot of acorn ones too, but haven't tried them yet. Will report back when we do.
