Re: Lets see them dollhouses!!

Here are a couple of rooms in one of my two furnished houses.

Front of my 1950s childhood dollhouse. Can you see Mom in the kitchen window?

Dining room of 50s house. Food is my favorite thing in a DH. Most of the food in this room is old English plaster.

Living room in 50s house. I use the little Red Rose Tea animals all over this house. The leopard is supposed to be one of those old TV lamps.

Looking forward to seeing the rest of your room. You have done a great job! Marie

Mustbe, thanks for asking to see our houses. I just love all things "dolls" which in my mind means dollhouses too. Here are some photos.....

This is a house my husband and I built for our GD on her 1st birthday. See the 4-21 number on the house. Her birth date. Also I am going to show an awful photo when she received it. She is looking through the door and I snapped the photo just when she was licking the floor....if she knew I was showing it, she would die. She is now 19 and in August will begin her sophomore year in college. We are still very proud of her, not her photos.......:-D (also, I have the house back as her parents are not together any longer and this was put in the garage. I feel it is in a better place in my home, just waiting for her to want it back......) Marie

Inside, most of the items in there are mine. She had very child-like things.....

The shelf I have it on is a bit small. It does have front steps, but I can't fit those on, anyway it is always turned to the wall so that I can see the inside......

Hi, Marie. Great things! Adorable photo of your daughter!

I think that Shirl confirmed that the house I showed is a Keystone. She'll know what yours is, I'm sure.

I think that I have the same Marx house as your first litho pic. I need to put it together.

heres mine :|
is was nice once lol, but my seven year old daughter destroyed it a few years back. Crayon all over the wallpaper and floors, water damage, broken furniture, torn off double porch, missing gingerbread trim...etc
This happend about six years ago, I tried to fix it up a bit with some new carpeting and wallpaper printouts but it was never the same so i put it away in the basement for years, until last week when i felt the dollhouse craze all over again!
So now im gonna try and fix it up again. I purchased the parts to make a new porch, and i just bought the new bricks today for the bottom outside. The living room will get new wallpaper and a wood look floor, and the its on to the kitchen and i'll work my way up lol. The only room that will stay the same is the Stars kids room and maybe the parents room ?:| The bathroom floor has been replaced as well.
The staircases are missing, but i think i can live without them? or would it be tacky with no staircase? I do have more room without the stairs..

Dollolgy, I am happy to show you the inside. Now, remember this has been in my garage without and furniture in it for seven years. It is covered, but dusty. I did try to sell it at a tag sale I had on the day after Thanksgiving, but it didn't sell. Anyway, I will tell you a bit about it. It was built for me in 1976. Each and every clapboard is cut one by one and placed on the frame. I took a photo of the side so you could see the wonderful work. Also, the hinges on the doors are cut by hand from poster board, painted black and put on each door. The latches are metal and purchased. The entire house is wired. I will explain each photo as we go along.

Isn't it a shame that it is just sitting all along in the garage, it used to be the star of my collection!

The side.....all windows are glass....

Photobucket

The back....bottom left, kitchen. Top left, childs room, middle is the bathroom, top and bottom are front to back rooms....living room and master bedroom. There are four halls.

Photobucket

A huge attic on the top keep all the wiring in place and easy to get to. I use to hide it with a screen and normal attic finds. Believe it or not that use to be one of my favorite rooms. Going to post this and make another post below.....

Here is the pantry, under the bath.....see the hall going from the kitchen to the living room and from the pantry to the front hall. The hutch has been build in.

Photobucket

Here is the dusty living room. Each and everyroom has make believe peg floors. My husband made those. I just quickly laid a couple of room down for you to see. It was a beauty when dressed up.

Photobucket

The reason I showed a close up of the living room was I wanted you all to see the bricks, they are wood, again hand made fireplace. The white plug is for my Christmas tree. When the whole house was a glow, it was beautiful!

This is the front. I placed some velco on each door, there are eight, to keep them from flying open.....

Photobucket

You see the front to back rooms again, front hall, dinning room and babies room. Can you see a bit of the top floor halls. They are on a slant. Also, I had a hutch that sat between the two lights on the wall in the dinning room...

Photobucket

Hope I did not go on and on and drive you all nuts. But it is a very special house, unlike the others I have. All built by hand. Thanks for hearing me out.....Marie:)

Thanks, all.

Mustbe, your house is darling! I would leave out the stairs in exchange for a little more space. I don't think that it matters a bit.

Marie, a walk-in pantry! i can just imagine the shelves filled with FOOD! Don't you want to fix it up??
