Listing an Ooak dress

Hello,

I am in the process of listing my fist item to sell.  My item incudes a 1:12 minature dress and matching hat made by myself.  I have been reading the section "Sell an item".  Anyone have any suggestions for me.  Thank you, Anna

Hi,

Congrats on taking the plunge into sales on eBay!!!

Suggesstions.........well, first search under the dollhouse and miniatures catagory for 1/12th scale dresses and see what's listed and for how much. Then, the best thing to do is switch to completed listings for the same search and see what sold, how much, and what didn't sell! That is the best advice I ever got from this board on how to sell anything on eBay. You've gotta gauge the market and the competition, and that's how to do it!!

Next most important thing is GREAT PICTURES!!! Be sure to shoot them with a nice backgound, like with pretty wallpaper that matches! Take several good shots, and use the best of them. I've sold a few completed OOAK 1/12th dresses myself, and I usually did 3 pics, front, back, and a close up for the little details like teensy lace or buttons or ric-rac, etc.

Then do a nice write up about your little dress! Make it sound magical, like it's for a real little girl!! Make them say......Awwwww!!! I gotta have it!!!

Once you click on Sell An Item, it will walk you thru the process and it's not too hard to do! First you pick a catagory, then type a title for your listing, click New since it's not a used item, and add pictures, and the description. You'll have an option to pay extra (10 cents) for a decorative border which you get to choose from about 100 of them! Set a price for buy it now, or a starting price for an auction and decide on shipping. With my little dresses I used USPS First Class and shipped in a puffy mailing envelope. It's cheap for anything under 13 ozs. and very fast delivery which buyers love!

Last bit of advice, hang in there! You learn as you go, and honestly, there's no predicting what will happen on eBay! Some junk goes for high prices and some great items don't sell! But mostly it's somewhere in the middle. There used to be a great dollhouse shop in Buena Park, Ca. called Caseys Wee Littles, they've retired now, but Casey used to say "You can't sell it, if you don't have it!! Well, to paraphrase: You can't sell it, if you don't list it!!!! I say GO FOR IT!!!!
