My Pierce...

is here. Came this morning.
I'm in awe. Everything looks good, the box survived the journey, one little bendy that's it.
So now I want to order wallpaper and flooring. Wanna see the wallpaper I picked out? Sure you do.
Diningroom:

Livingroom:

Kitchen:

Master bedroom:

Spare/guest room:

Haven't picked out attic or bathroom yet. Bathroom will be tiled, just haven't decided yet. Hardwood strip floors. Just gonna order 3 or 4 different ones and go from there. No harm having extra....Not like this is going to be my one and only house... I'm sure there will be others. the Harrison, the Beacon Hill..... lol.

I,m really excited for you, I know you will love, love, love it. Please keep us up on the progress as you go along. One suggestion I have for you is to prime it with white primer before you start. Get one of those small rollers and just roll the sheets. It is a lot easier doing it that way then doing it once it is put together.
I just love the wallpapers you choose, very nice. Good luck with it and keep us posted. Dolly

Morning girls. Glad you like the wallpaper. I was a bit concerned that it was TOO much but it's Victorian right? No such thing as too much. I'm a great lover of birds so I thought.. why not?
Thought about wiring it for lights then decided to go with battery ones. I think wiring is a whole new learning curve, don't want to overwhelm myself.
No idea how i'm finishing the outside yet. All I know is it will have a red roof. Lol. and red front doors. I really like the look of castle rock. Has anyone ever been to Victoria BC and seen Craigdaroch Castle? Yep, castle block and a red roof, lol.
I'll see if I canslide a pic of the castle over here................

Ha! I LOVE this mansion, used to visit it back in Victoria all the time.

Hi Gals! Oh Lori...you are going to have fun! This is certainly something for all of us to look forward to as you share the process with us. I LOVE your wall paper choices as well, especially the first one! Might have to find out where that one comes from so I can get some.
I saw your other post showing pics of your beautiful "baby" all grown up. She sure is gorgeous. They bring so much joy to our lives.
When are you planning to start on the Pierce now that it has arrived?(no pressure ![]:)](http://b.us-forums.lvwd.net/images/emoticons/devil.gif)

I forgot to tell you that I saw a house that used "egg carton" stones for the "castle" look. That might be an option, certainly easy to acquire and cut. The paperclay is wet so priming beforehand as Dolly mentioned is a great idea, regardless of what you use. If you do think castle look on the outside you might want to prime it grey instead of white.
Which brings me to my questions for Dolly...Do you prime both the interior and exterior? I did on my mex because of the thin walls and the "stucco" will be wet to avoid warping. But, it also helps with a smoother finish on the walls for the wallpaper, is that right?

Yes, it is better to prime on both sides. I can't tell you how many houses I got after it was built and then had to prime. What a pain this is, reaching into the house and trying to do a neat job of it. So much easier to do it first. The glue from the wallpaper doesn't absorb into the wood if it is primed first. I also buy a bucket of wallpaper paste, it's cheap) and paint it on the wallpaper with a brush. Take care, Pat

Thanks for the compliments on the wallpaper. I'm happy with it, haven't changed my mind so all is good.
No idea when I'm gonna start on it. I'm not moving so I guess the back bedroom/dollroom is getting turned into a workshop. Have to wiggle stuff around in there, box up a few dolls. i have a big rectangular table in there that's perfect for my porject. And i can close the door when I'm done for the time being, or too keep Princess Sadie from "idly" picking up a little treasure. Lol.
I have to order all my mini stuff through the mail. I can get stuff like glue paint and sandpaper at Home Hardware soooooo back to the mini stuff, I need to make sure I have everything I need to make a good start, can't just run to the store for another sheet of flooring. And once I get going I ain't stoppin till she at least looks like a house.
The outside.... really leaning towards clapboard siding, don't have to fuss with painting any "stonelike" texture. I don't want to get too fussy about this house and get bogged down in details. All I know is i don't care for the smooth expanse of the walls, it needs some texture on the outside to give it character. And colour, i'm thinkin lot's of colour.
I LOVE the exterior of this Pierce: FYI - just a "how to" slideshow
http://community.webshots.com/slideshow/556889918hwwgSB?mediaPosition=1
And I like the way the builder built it. Totally makes sense.
I think about it constantly and I have a pretty solid idea of how I want it to look.
Mental note: Don't forget tiny little electrical receptacle covers. it's all in the details.
Anyway, just babbling on here. Ttyl.... have a good one.
Lori

Oh, I love the slideshow. How handy is that to have get directions along with pictures step by step. I noticed they were using Quick Grip for their glue. I wish I had bought stock in that stuff, its great. I use it all the time and what I like about it, is it dries very fast and clear. Great glue. My Pierce was already built when I got it. It wasn't finshed but the walls were up so I had to finish the rest. Actually, I don't like to build dollhouses, I like to renovate them after someone else builts them. Have fun, and keep us posted. I've got a couple of questions. The flooring I want comes in 16.5" x 11" peel and stick sheets. 2 sheets per pack. Is one sheet enough to do the whole living/diningroom?
Should I bother ordering one of those fancy bathroom tile paper kits with the border around the edge of the floor or will I end up doing a lot of cut and paste to fit it into the bathroom?
Would it be too tricky to replace the squarish staircase with a premade curved one?
Would it be hard to replace the double front doors with a statelier(?) single door?
Tia!

Good questions, but since I don't have this house, I can't help you!!
Is there a template for the floorplan inside the box???
That might help you decide how to lay out and plan the floor treatments.

I opened up the box and took out the instructions. Sure is a lot of pieces to put together. No measurments on the instructions but I can locate the sheet with the main floor on it and measure the dimensions to get a better idea how much wallpaper and flooring I'll need. Really in a tizzy about flooring for some reason.
I think the first thing I should do before I start on this is pack up a few dolls and other things in the back bedroom so I have some room.

Hi Lori, maybe I can help you with a couple of the questions. You can measure the size of the livingroom/dinningroom before you begin to put your house together. The base is your kitchen, dinning and livingroom. As for the stairs, you will also have to think about the opening in the ceiling where the stairs go. A premade curved one would look great, I thought about that myself since I already have a curved staircase. The front doors really need to be double doors for the nice effect they give. Remember the thickness of the wood if your going to change the doors. I used the tile paper in my kitchen and it works out great. I used mosic tiles on the floor, got them at Michaels and just glued them down. Hope this helps. Dolly
