Need help with my halloween house please

Sep 4, 2009 8:08 PM
Although it isn't old, I found this halloween house in an antique shop last weekend. The halloween figurines that are in it were included with it, but I don't think they're original to the house. On the back is a box that turns on and you can hear moaning and screaming. I'm a total newbie to miniatures and dollhouses, so I don't have a clue where to start with it fixing it up and decorating it.

The first problem that I have is that I don't know what the scale is for the house. It isn't divided evenly by the shelf that's in it. The bottom part is about 6 1/4" tall and the top part is 7 3/4" tall. Can anyone tell me what scale I should be looking for in minis?

The corners of it are a little dinged up, but I'm thinking this could be covered by some landscaping plants. I think the outside of it is just printed paper and there is one place on the slanted side below the roof that has missing paper. I'm not sure how to repair this.

I know that I definitely want to put a widow's peak on the roof. I was thinking of possibly using some of the Lemax Spookytown fencing for it. I would really love to hear ideas or suggestions that any of you might have for the house! I've never tried posting photos here before, so I hope this works.

Your house is really cute!!

I think that the smaller scaled dollhouse furniture would work well in it.. like the plastic furniture in the metal Marx dollhouses?? Perhaps you can find some pieces (cheap) and paint them..

Or small wooden pieces...you could even make some pieces yourself. A spooky four poster bed upstairs with a rickity rocker and tattered curtains.. a "dress form" in the corner that is really a skeleton...a sprinkling of cobwebs...

Downstairs you could have a creepy kitchen with a big pot bubbling on the stove. You could have a couple of weird chairs (those little high-back chairs that are metal Christmas ornaments?) and a coffee table in the shape of a coffin... (a coffin table, get it? hahahahaa) :^O

ok. *cough* sorry.. ]:) I get carried awayyyyyyy..

Let your imagination run wild! don't forget to SHARE PICTURES while you're working on it!!!

HAVE FUN!!!

but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.
