Ah, that swept me away with a wave of nostalgia!
Back in the days prior to the internet- and prior to eBay, the monthly magazine and sales listings for Collectors United were
the way that doll collectors stayed in touch, and bought and sold.
I sold thru their publication - and bought- back in the 1970s- we didn't even have photos of what we were buying and selling- just a lot of trust- hand written description of what we were selling - letters back and forth to each other...and I never had a bad deal- either buying or selling - in all those transactions...well, except the lady who bough the all original Binnie Walker from me and refused to believe that Madame Alexander would dress her like a "street walker" in a leopard fur hat and muff! She said she loved the doll and was pleased with it - but had thrown the muff and hat in the trash!
