Buyers Who Wait Almost a Month To Open A Case?!

I don't understand why some buyers will leave a nasty message about the item they recieved being nothing like what they thought it would be. I honestly try to the best of my ability to take quality pictures and describe the item in detail, as well as encourage additional questions to be asked before placing a bid.

About just shy of a month ago (June 1st), I had a last minute bidder asking me questions about some hair extensions, I thought I had covered everything, as well as the fact they were 4 years old and one piece was missing but it was still a "full head", as it was enough to cover around the head. A few days later, I get a message about how thin and how much shorter they were then what I had stated them to be (I measured them twice fyi), and how I should of told her all this etc. She never asked for a refund or even a partial, nothing.

I replied to her stating I was sorry she was not happy with her purchase, and I try to describe all my items to the best of my honesty and knowledge and to let me know if there was anything I could do for her regaurding the situation. She never replied and that same day I recieved negative feedback from her...

Well just this week almost a month later, she decided to open a case against me stating to ebay that I didn't communicate with her and the item was not as described and all that jazz, and that she would like a full refund. I am floored to say the least, just seems so wrong to me!

However, I went ahead and issued the full refund. My questions is though, is she still required to ship the item back to me, or does she get to keep them and her money? I am not going to stress over it, as I am sure the condition of them will not be the same as when they left my home anyway, but just for future reference if this happens again to me. Thank you! :)

A buyer has 45 days to file a dispute with paypal. Of course this buyer should have let you resolve the porblem before leaving negative feedback. You should have not refunded the money until ebay or paypal made a decision one way or the other because normally they would have buyer return the item before refund. In the future wait until a case has been opened & a decision made. Now you are out the money, your item & have a negative. I hoped you blocked this buyer from any future bidding.

you should have Never refunded until you get your item back.

 put return for full refund.

now that you refunded this person they will not send it back and ebay can not help in any way.

If they had already left a negative then opened a case, you could have escalated the case and rolled the dice in hopes Ebay may find in your favor based on your description. You had nothing to lose at that point.

Least you are realistic that the item may possibly  not come back in same condition.

Returns on hair extensions, vintage items, etc. This is where the blanket policy just doesn't work for everyone. If people want to test an item or "rent it" then Ebay should consider that an option. Other sites do.

NEVER issue a refund until the merchandise has been returned

(in it's ORIGINAL condition)!!  Also, you have the option of refusing returns altogether -- or at least on certain items.

I second that.

Hi there,

I receive more than 200 packages every month and some of them are not as described and they force me to open cases becuase some sellers won't accept returns....

However, Ebay provides a prepaid shipping label and buyers won't receive a full refund until the tracking number is provided and item has been deliveried.

Hope that helps

Have a great day

this has happened to me several times im finding in most cases its the ones with low feedback scores..i do request feedback revisions with the buyers and pretty much bend over backwards to make them happy...i wish ebay would force buyers to communicate with us first befor a neggitive feedback is given if they dont they can not leave feedbacks only possitive ones... i know wishfull thinking huh....
