american sellers....beware!!  if you opt to sell internationally and there is a problem, guess what??  you do not have US ebay at your back helping you.  i decided to give international buyers a shot after ebay's lobbying efforts about upping sales.  i sold an item to a german man may 11.  mailed the item may 12.  june 15th he asks if it was sent.  i provided the pertinent information.  today i got an "item not received".  ok.  i can handle that.  but wait!!!!  i have to go to ebay germany!!  everything is in german!!  i called ebay for help.  the customer service guy, jason, said i should have kown that.  huh??  i'm to go and use a google translator.  am i dense for imagining that if there was a issue it would be done in english, here i the states?  according to him i was.

my point is, to him and to ebay, if you want american sellers to sell internationaly, there should be a disclaimer about the consequences; that the US ebay would not be available.  i'm making time to alert other ebayers.  hope this helps.

Hi if you sold on ebay us then that`s where you should go.I am in new zealand and have had many great overseas buyers, don`t miss out on buyers because of one,in the end you will still come out ahead,i have had a couple of items go astray, depending on the amount,if it`s large enough i will pay the extra postage to get tracking, hope you have more luck with your overseas customers

I've had a couple of friends lately sell items to Germany also, and they had terrible trouble with people there saying they didn't get it or received it with damage. Just as you stated, they have to respond to a German site that according to USA Ebay has nothing to do with them!

The don't offer any help or protection for USA sellers. I would suggest as I have now done to block German buyers. What a disappointment, especially as I am 3/4 German heritage.

Best of luck,  Steve

Will Google Translator work if the webpage is displayed in German?
