HIDDEN BIDDERS FOR eBay

Hi Guys,

Watch out as eBay are trialling hidden bidders on ALL auctions not just the higher priced ones as has been currently happening but starting from 1 cent. They are using Australia as the testing ground and it will be with all countries soon. This will have the Shill Bidders running their item up without you ever knowing. Just thought I'd get in and inform all the eBayers of the world that this corporation is about to make more money and con you into believing that this is being done to protect it's buyers, CRAP !!!

What's wrong with 'trialling'? Surely you are not so insular that you accept only Americanised spelling of words.

I'm not happy with the hidden bidders myself! I have always looked at who's bidding that way I know what kid of bidder I'm up against. When I sell I also look at the bidders, it tells you if they are serious bidders or not. Now we will have no clue as to who's bidding.

I sure am tired of having to watch out for eBay being unethical as well as with buyers. Why do they have to make it so hard? Can't anyone do anything without a devious motive? When can we trust someone to really mean what they say?

When can we trust someone to really mean what they say? When they have nothing to gain from saying it. LOL!! I have seen the new bidders. They all have *** in their name. I started a topic in this forum to find out what they were as their were SO MANY of them with no visable feedback. I saw the first "star" name last year, bidding a promo doll auction into the $2000 dollar range. At first I thought it was the seller, but then I saw the "stars" members all had a different letter or number. It is ridiculous, it makes no sense and I wonder how many "stars" members are up to no good. I'm not happy with the hidden bidders myself! I have always looked at who's bidding that way I know what kid of bidder I'm up against. Now we will have no clue as to who's bidding. You got it Angelmama!!!!! I don't like the "stars" thing not one bit. ;)~Lee

I started a discussion similar to your discussion, in the part time seller section and I was also curious of this. I had a seller tell me that the star bids are only private bids.

The sellers see all the real IDs.

the hidden bidders should not be allowed.  How do I know I am not being bid up by the seller.  This sucks and needs fixed if business to going to continue.

Hi everyone!
I am a new seller, but I have been an EBay buyer for NUMEROUS years.
And since I am new to this, I am trying to learn this whole seller thing.  I am somewhat confused about the hidden seller and what that means.  And if it were the seller bidding against his/her own items, couldn't that seriously backfire in that they get stuck with 'their bid' and have to pay fees to Ebay based on that bid?

Trying to get the hang of it.
